The mask is to conceal her identity (face) as her profile reveals the herpes.

When she tells you she has herpes, it's not a warning.  It is a filter and signal to the chads with herpes that she is DTF without the "conversation". 

By the way, someone else mentioned that many people have but don't know they have herpes.  Herpes is NOT on the standard STD panel.  Why?  I have a couple thoughts: (1) it is so common already, (2) it is practically a do-nothing disease, and (3) it is medically considered a non-life threatening, skin infection.  Here is an interesting test, next time you visit your primary doctor, ask for STD testing, and then later before the consult is over, ask for a specific list of lab tests the doctor ordered.

As for the different infection rates between men and women, biological factors do play a part.  However, I think it has more to do with the 80/20 rule.  A majority of the women are having sex with a minority of the men.  Again, she is signaling to the men she wants that she is ready and willing to have sex.
