Hi all,

So I've been dating this guy for 3 months and my birthday is coming up in the next 2 weeks. I love my birthday and planning it and stuff and decided that I wanted to go to a hotel and a restaurant with him, my best friend, and my best friends boyfriend. I asked him if we should book the hotel in advance because I don't want to run into any problems concerning the availability of the rooms. He said that he didn't want me to pay too much for the hotel since it's around $175 dollars. He then proceeded to ask me if I was paying for my best friend and her boyfriend's dinner and I said no. He then said that he could pay for our dinner and drinks and that I can pay for the hotel.

I came to him asking about the hotel in the hopes that he would want to pay even half of the cost. I just can't see myself sitting in a hotel room with him while I know I footed the whole bill. In regards to the restaurant and drinks, I would assume he would pay for my dinner anyways since it's my birthday and my best friend told me she'd cover the drinks.

He earns significantly more than me and I just feel kinda hurt after he initially said he didn't want me paying a lot for the hotel , yet then lets me pay for it. The restaurant meal and drinks probably won't amount to the cost of the hotel and I'm just not into 50/50 anyways. I'll be paying for my birthday outfit, makeup, hair supplies, nails and everything and then to pay for the hotel just seems wrong.

Am I being unreasonable? What should I do about this?

EDIT: He typically is not stingy with his money as well. I mean he bought one of his roommates $1000 LouBoutin shoes for her birthday and thats not even the amount that he'd pay for a hotel, dinner, ubers, a gift for my birthday altogether.....
