Is it unreasonable to expect a guy I’m dating to congratulate me on graduating with a first?

Firstly, congratulations on your first class degree 🎉

It’s not unreasonable to expect a partner to want to lift you up in your academic/ career/ personal projects life. If they only care about your looks, sex or what you provide for him that’s a big red flag. Personally, my academic achievements/ career goals will always come before my partner 🤷🏾‍♀️. They won’t leave me or more importantly, I never want to be dependent on a man financially. So if he doesn’t celebrate it, then he needs to go. It may only escalate in the future.

You could wait a little and see if he sends a private message to you later or mentions it at your next date. But if he continues on the radio silence I personally would get rid. You’ve said he’s on his social media commenting on other things, but he doesn’t have time to say well done to you??? No. But if he does celebrate it (without you prompting) with flowers, a well thought out gift etc then him commenting on your post isn’t the end of the world.

He's not celebrating with you, so he's probably not that into you. Sorry sis'. A HVM would be waiting with champagne.

Of course it is not. Something as simple as picking up the phone and sending you a sweet text is all that it takes. Like, I'd do that for a co-worker or a coursemate. Trust your instincts 👏

He isn’t congratulating you because he’s jealous - obvious LVM behaviour. Especially if he then says that it’s not that big a deal and you didn’t work that hard. #pastexperience
