Frame changes can be caused by humor, depending on the context and meaning of the joke, no. But they are seeking validation, so hold the frame of them seeking your validation and relax while you laugh.

Appreciating someone else's humour is a good thing. If you genuinely find something funny laugh in a reserved manner unless of course you side's are split then just enjoy it. If it's not that funny just politely smile or learn how to fake a laugh properly.

Do you want to be an alpha male or not? Laughing at someone else's jokes makes you a beta follower. Be a leader and make others follow YOU. The proper response if someone tells you a joke - even if it's funny AF - is this: "Ha, that's kind of funny, but listen to this (insert joke here), hahahaha."
