To me, what that does is it puts her on YOUR level. You're identifying with her, as an equal, and you're sharing social/intellectual space and authenticity with her.

As long as you're not sexually interested with her then it's fine. It's pretty effective at communicating that you see her as a friend.

Otherwise you should be showing your interest... Why would you help friend zone yourself or try to be ambiguous? The only way this might work the way you're thinking is if you successfully frame it as a joke/tease but idk... Don't see much point in saying that.
