Does the "Benjamin Franklin Effect" work on women as well ?

For those that don't know what the "Benjamin Franklin Effect" is, it essentially states that when you ask for a favor to someone and they do the favor you asked of them, they tend to like you more:

So what does the community think of this ? I have noticed that it works well if the favor is small, for example: "Do you have the pdf of this textbook ? I've been looking for it everywhere" and then when she gives it to you, she likes you a little bit more (so it seems).

So what do you all think about it?
