I had a similar situation before where after gaming the girl and going through the trouble of bringing her home, she says she's on her period.

I actually found it fucking hilarious and told her she should've told me earlier on. She said she didn't expect things to escalate so quickly xD and she didn't want to let me go so, she ended up giving me a head, we spent the night together and bid her farewell the next day. I'd stop hanging out with the guy, honestly. Who cares about a period? It's a completely inevitable and normal part of life. Yelling at a girl who's already given you head is also a great way to get an accusation brewing. Imagine how humiliating and rude his response was.

roommate was a complete tool in this case. girls are right to be upset about it. you are right to think roommate was a complete a tool and in the wrong to do what he did too.

i would recommend the following:

less is always more when it comes to handling drama in interpersonal dynamics. i'd just tell the guy you think he overreacted but he can do him and you can do you. then i'd stop wingman'ing together like that with him because he's not gonna learn just because you and a couple of girls disagree with him. i'd start keeping my distance from him, he's gonna get himself into trouble and you want to steer clear. i wouldn't discuss this more with him. just do it as non-chalantly as you can.
if you have the girl's contact info, i don't know the right blend of follow up right now. if you text anything about "sorry about roommate, guy was a tool! he shouldn't have done that!" your putting something out there they could spin into false allegations and since you were there, it could turn into at least a distracting pain in the ass for you if not worse. at the same time, a normal, human reaction is to this would be to not apologize since it's not your accountability but still validate that what he did was wrong to them and reassure them that in future interactions (if any) you won't be involving him again with them. i just don't know the right wording for something that can't be taken to the cops and spun into some kind of admission of guilt to a false allegation of something worse than what happened.

to sum up - yeah what the roommate did was fucked up. distance yourself from that shit, or he'll eventually get some on you too.
