How do you settle the conflict between setting boundaries vs. not expecting anything from anyone?

An often cited fictional example of an alpha male is Howard Roarke from The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand, who lives completely in his own world and doesn't expect anything from anyone. Nobody's behaviour can bother him or faze him, because he only engages in things he wants to engage in, and has no expectations of anybody else. He is a constant source in his own life and needs nobody else.

Meanwhile, TRP often encourages us to set boundaries with people. E.g. on a current post on asktrp about masculinity, one answer says to call people out on disrespectful behaviour like being late, and tell them that in the future you expect better (e.g. a heads up that they'll be late).

An example in my own life recently where I was conflicted over this exact concept, was a girl from daygame that I hooked up with a few times taking a long-ass time to reply, like 3 days. And most recently, she texted me saying she was back in town, I said "cool when are you free", and she just never replied (it's been over a week). Part of me felt annoyed and like I should call her out on it, but then I remembered the "expect nothing from anyone" mindset and went with that perspective instead.

Thanks homies in advance for your manly insights

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
