I think you are confusing love with monogamy. Love exists but it’s a hormonal reaction and a mental state. It doesn’t last forever and never has; we were never meant to be monogamous apes.

Slightly contrary point of view: Nothing much as changed since the 1700s or 1950s or even 1960s. We didn’t all stop washing out penises and following lobsters. Up until the mid-60s, you got married and you were expected to stay together. Love had zero to do with it. It was just an expectation created by a trad con belief in Zombie Carpenter and the need for societal stability that marriage provides women. Now women have options, men have options and society is pretty stable without marriage.

There is that study Rich Cooper likes to site where only a very small percentage of couples report that they are happy past the 9 year mark.

Translation: more than likely your Grandparents and your parents (assuming they didn’t divorce) were really sick of each other by year 10 or year 15. By 40, your grandpa stopped getting blown by your grandpa, and most likely they stopped fucking completely by age 50 because he was impotent and your grandpa’s pussy was like the gobi desert. But they stayed together because that was just the expectation.

Chances are very high that they fell out of love and physical attraction for each other pretty quickly. But they went to church and papered over this disappointment with a sense of duty that Jordan Peterson would have been proud of if you caught him in between Benzo nods.

But today … you don’t have the same sort of societal pressure and divorce is a lot easier. Also medicine has gotten a lot better. So much so that if you sprinkle enough Cialis on pee-paw’s grave he’s probably going to get a boner from beyond.

The elderly couples you see today aren’t in love. They have unhealthy attachments to each other and their life is really based off a model of co-dependency. They don’t love each other. They just really need each other or they will quite frankly die without the other.

When I told my Mom I was getting divorced because I was in a sexless marriage she was confused. Sex in her mind was something that was supposed to go away. Happiness with another person was supposed to fade along with that feeling of being in love. To her marriage really meant a slow downward slide into co-dependency.

When you say true love, you mean essentially finding that one girl who will live and die on your dick. That hormone rush, that deep connection, that sense of love. And yes that’s out there. It just doesn’t last forever.

When society talks about true love, they aren’t talking drunken anal on a Saturday night. They are talking about a relationship that ends in toxic co-dependency dressed up as a Disney ideal.

And it’s always been this way since Abraham had the dumbass idea to plant crops and build a city in the desert.

But between technology, medicine and the consequences of radical feminism… we are slowly reverting to our non-monogamous nature. Doesn’t mean love is dead. Does mean monogamy probably is for the capable alpha male, and May it stay that way.

If they have grown together, learned to meet one another's and their own needs, and have built a family and friends together, they remain each other's best option.

Strong relationships don't just happen. They are rare, because most people simply don't have the necessary skills to form them.

There is no such thing as true love, that's disney fantasy.

And you can't compare (dating) to a serious LTR/marriage.

That said.

People change over time, over events/life. A couple that loved each other for years, then it changes. All sorts of reasons. From illness, fitness physical changes, to trust issues, to careers not on same paths (one moving up fast, the other not), money disagreements. Kids change things a lot. So many things can impact a relationship.

Many people stay together for Duty, for fear of the unknown,for loss of income stream/wealth,etc. Do they love each other still? For older people much more so, they share kids, family, their whole life. The women from those generations are different than today's. The tiktok generation is very different and not in a good way.

How many 40 /50 year olds, couples do you see out at dinner or shows that are holding hands and genuinely enjoy being with each other? When you are out and about, look, observe. see if these couples hold hands down the street, have an arm around each other,etc.

Physical affection is not necessarily, love. But I've found a very high rate of correlation in couples.

So, in summary, True love is a lie. Women don't love like men do.

Men have the burden of performance.

there is no «true love» obviously. Whatever u feel is exclusive to yourself and only happening inside your brain (serotonin release etc). We are not bluetooth devices going around and pairing

Not a lie. Just rare. And much harder to attain today than 50 years ago, since women are so promiscuous and damaged.

Not a complete lie imo. The way I see it, the True love you mention is a mutual decision, the decision of enjoying&improving each other and their circumstances(as time pass) to the point BOTH feel satisfied and grateful of their relationship.
