Went to a music festival this past weekend with my girl, her sis and sis’ bf. Rolling balls on night 2. Her sis gets sick and we go to medical tent. She whispers to me that my girl loves me, asking me if I love her. Told her I’ll tell her on my own terms. Clearly she’s the manipulative type and was planting the seed.
Then I got this crazy idea, “why not?”. I proceed to tell my girl, while we’re both high on molly, that I love her. Almost instant regret. Total noob move, and I knew better than that. But I figured fuck it I think I mean it, lemme double down. I tell her I’d like her to come along on a trip w my fam that we already booked and meet her dad.
She said she loved me back instantly and was super happy. But kept asking if this is just the molly talking. Anyway, after that day, I regretted saying it. We’re 7 months in, and I just made her my gf last month (see my latest post if you’re interested in the dynamics).
Lately (last couple weeks or so), I’ve noticed she’s been a tad bit distant. Not seeing me as often (claiming school and her dad as her excuse) and taking several days to reply to my IG msgs/memes.
Couple nights ago, she surprised me w thoughtful gifts for my bday. After we fucked, we were talking and I gave her a heads up that I won’t be saying “I love you” so often bc that’s just how I am. She was crying and claiming I ruined the special moment we had at the festival (she keeps referring back to how that made her so happy). I comforted her and told her not to worry, that I meant everything I said and that I DO love her but that I don’t want to say it so often bc it’ll lose its meaning. I cuddled her, teased her, and got the mood light again and we left on a happy note.
I know I went beta here. Talking about feelings is especially not me. And I still notice she’s distant when we’re not together. I know she’s been throwing comfort tests at me left and right. Called her yesterday during lunch and it was a fun convo. She texted me randomly a few times after, including her last text ~8pm, “are you home?”. I said “no why what’s up” then she replies “lol nothing, just askin”. Which I thought was weird and maybe just a call for attention/quasi-comfort test.
I’m thinking about responding to her distancing by distancing even harder to get her back in line. What’s the move here you think?
