You have provided zero real information. If the mother is trying to get you to pay for anything just tell her you want to do a paternity test first.

It is so simple these days, under the tongue swabs for you and baby takes a couple minutes max.

Just call up one of the labs, if you need a legal one(chain of custody maintained) its more expensive but the nurse can actually come to your house to take the samples.

Most if not all states regard the husband as the child's legal father, whether he's the bio father or not. It's a shitty deal for the husband of a cheating whore, but it works in your favor here.

What father's name is on the birth certificate?

Does the husband already know? Is that why they're divorcing? (If not, that could be leverage.)

Is she pushing for you to support her and/or the child?

Has she told you the kid is yours?

Is she a fit mother?

If you want real advice then tell the whole story. There are a hundred different scenarios depending on the specifics of the situation.

I’m the husband. I don’t inherently suspect anything. Just trying to cover my bases before I get into a bad situation.

If she's in divorce proceedings, she's not divorced. The kid is the husbands problem, not yours. (I mean, if you want to know if its yours so you can be a good dad, by all means do the DNA test).

I find this to be one of the most appalling things about marriage. The courts, rather than find out who the real dad is, just stick the husband with the financial responsibility.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
