May 23, 2018

Would you consider naming your son Chad?

Some branches of psychology say that your first name has a big influence on your personality.

So would you want your son to be a Chad/Tyrone/etc?

Never planned on having kids, so I never really thought about it. I personally wouldn't go with something like Chad, just something relatively normal.

Thanks for replying. I'm not from USA but I thought that Chad was relatively normal there.

I'm from the U.S. and I think I've only ever met one Chad in my life. As you might expect his name was a running joke in our friend group, but he was a cool dude so it was all in good fun.

Thaddeus (Greek Θαδδαῖος, Thaddaios, from Aramaic תדי, Taddai / Aday) is a male given name. It means a heart or courageous heart.

As of the 1990 Census, 'Thaddeus' was the 611th most popular male name in the United States, while 'Thad', its diminutive version, was the 846th most popular.

On the other hand

Chad is a masculine given name of Anglo-Saxon/Welsh origins. It is the modernized form of the Old English given name Ceadda, influenced by the Welsh word cad meaning "battle".

Chad first entered the top 1000 names for male children in the United States in 1945, when it was the 997th most popular name. Its popularity suddenly peaked beginning in the mid 1960s, reaching rank 25 in 1972 and 1973. From the mid 1970s, its popularity began a gradual decline, reaching rank 236 in 2000 and rank 667 as of 2013.

Nah maybe Thaddeus or Alexander.

But i’d be a total dick and name my son Tyrone, or adopt an african child and name him Chad for the lols.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
