Simplest definition of frame?

September 14, 2018

Frame is a complex thing that I’ve been really trying to wrap my head around, and understand.

Can’t frame pretty much be defined as just being extremely sure of yourself and your decisions/actions?

FRAME - the subjective interpretation of an objective reality.

First of all, you need to read everything you can about frame to understand it fully. It's an abstract.

Simply, it's your reality. Anything outside it is but amusement. The one with the strongest frame draws other into his frame.

Can’t frame pretty much be defined as just being extremely sure of yourself and your decisions/actions?

That's true, but you have to define your reality (implement trp tenets) first, then make it as solid as steel.

For example, you should internalize IDGAF, OI, PRIZE mentality, overconfidence, domminance, sexuality etc.

These are the basics. Do the reading, use the search form here and the main sub.

I think I’ve read every post known to man on frame and for some reason I still get confused at times

I'm currently learning about RP theory, but I hope I can give you some insights. Frame is confidence, yes, but it goes even deeper. Keeping frame means being focused on your goals, your needs. Once you can be with yourself while remaining comfortable, then you can say you have a strong frame.

Again that comes down to just being sure of yourself and your decisions/actions

Sure, that's not wrong. Maybe someone with more knowledge can clarify.

I get what you’re saying but again. In that situation it is just being sure of yourself and holding that down or sticking to it

It's not the same thing. Being sure of yourself is simply an aspect of having a "strong" or "good" frame. Frame is the way you handle situations. It can be a strong frame or a weak frame. That is semantics but it is important to make the difference between the definition of something and its value.

I see what you’re saying. Having good frame is what I defined but the actual definition is different. I guess what I meant is “ having good frame can be simplified to that”

Frame is a mindset, and what a lot of people don't get is that it changes depending on situation.

Example one: I am a self defense and firearms instructor. If I'm on the range, I teach, and others listen. If I call cease fire due to safety, you holster your fucking sidearm or I'll take it away from you. My frame is that I am the man in charge, the dictator with the biggest dick.

Example two: I know fuck all about mechanical repair. If I take my car to you and you've been working on cars for years, I keep my mouth closed and listen respectfully. I ask questions and try to learn. My frame here is that I don't know everything, and you are now the dictator. (Please do not show me your dick.)

Example three: When with a woman, my frame is that, except in certain circumstances, she is a child and everything she says is faintly amusing. I never lose my temper, and rarely show any emotion other than humor.

Does this help?

Yes especially the third example. When it comes to status I get it. I’m the boss I act this way. It’s in the mist of conversations. Usually with a women or my women that I get confused. Usually those “certain circumstances” you mentioned when I’m not sure if it’s appropriate to treat her like a teen. But yes that helps

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
