I'm pretty sure I did it wrong. Instead of going for a kiss I asked.

Never ask. Ever. If you feel like you need to say something, say "I'm going to kiss you now." But even this is pushing it. You don't say anything. Lock eyes, look at her lips, and do it. If she looks away, she's not interested. If she sits there looking at you, she's waiting for you to kiss her. Simple.

Because you made it weird by asking. Let me translate her emotional language for you:

"That would be weird!"

Translate: "I would have followed your lead if you kissed me. But now it's weird. If I did it now, I would feel weird"

Again, sidebar. But to answer you simply: IDGAF attitude. She says no, rejects you? IDGAF, I have taxes to do anyway.

What to even do if you fail

IDGAF. If you get rejected, it's just Tuesday. You have taxes to do anyway. Best to get to those taxes, since we're not kissing. It's either kiss, or I'm doing my taxes; both of which are just as boring.
