How much money should a man be making in his mid-20s?

What is the benchmark for success? A lot of ibankers make 170k as Associates, some SDEs make 200k+ at FAANG, and some rock stars at VC/PE make 300k+. On the flip side, many people barely scratch 50k or are in school.

So I ask to you: what salary should a successful and purposeful man be making in mid-20s? Asking in the context of a man who chases very high value women (attractive + successful in career + fitness + status).

Mid to late 20s you should have a job with upward career potential and not be working a dead end gig. Salary is something that will come as you progress in your respective industry

Depending on your major. I know for CS if you put the work you could be making 150k+ right after graduating. Check levels.fyi for salaries with years of experience.

You begin since freshman year in college, you spend your free time learning new technologies, you create some nice projects, get a shitty internship on your first summer while grinding leetcode on your spare time.

For sophomore year you have some experience and start applying to big n companies, hopefully get some offers or you do another internship at a shitty company.

For junior year you finally get some offers at a big n company, and while interning there you get a return offer for new grad.

Shit I’m a junior. I’m trying to get an internship but I’m only behind because I switched majors

You definitely have still lots of time to grind lc and get an internship, last year I got some offers in December.

Ok I will grind the fuck out of lc then. I’ll go to some internship fairs as well. Thanks for the advice man

Literally invest 2 months of your time, getting an internship is the safest way for a new grad offer and once you start your career in a big n company you're set for life. It's easy to hop between big n companies.

The easiest interviews that pay top notch that I know of are uber and Amazon.

Also do you think there is a difference between a Software Engineering degree and Computer Science degree?

[–]neatbranch 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy Link

Nah recruiters don't really care.

The school name matters more

Just wanna ask, what advice would you give a current senior in CS? I’ve been struggling in general when it comes to career related things.

Find a field you like for example web development, backend, etc and stick to it. Make some nice projects to boost your resume and start applying to internships / new grad positions.

Try to get disciplined to stop wasting time on stuff that does not build you into a better person.

Clean up your linkedin.

Nope

It varies. You just want to be comfortable enough. where I’m at 20k a year is great for a guy in their early 20s.

Above 0 dollars, but less than infinity dollars.

It’s not about how much you make, it’s about how much you keep.

Depends on your personal drive and what your standard of living is.

May be a sensitive question that many don't want to answer publically, so here is a strawpoll:

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
