“Insecurities” Vs “Things You Need to Work On”

This is a question that’s been scratching my mind and I want to hear some good answers.

If you tell people that you’re “just working on yourself etc” many times they’ll be like “so you have a lot of insecurities lol”

Is the word insecurity not misused a lot then? Should there be another way of saying it(if that makes sense)?

Just because you’re not ready to date around and are working on yourself doesn’t mean you’re “insecure”

there doesn't seem to be anything here
