Over 40 and single: In shape and look good -- I'm seeking advice on where to meet women who are at least 27-28, etc, and a bit more mature than the club scene has to offer, any suggestions??

This is probably the hardest part for a lot of men. I know that I suffer from the same problem: where can I find women that are desirable?

There are a couple of main paths:

friends of friends. Get invited to your friends large events, like BBQs, holiday parties, etc. Also you can host your own and encourage the people you invite to bring new people with them.
Go to fancy bars during happy hour. Lots of women will go get drinks together after work or on saturday/sunday (especially during the summer) but they tend to only go to pretentious bars. There are a couple in the uptown area near where I live: they are filled with groups of 2-4 women who sit and chat over frilly drinks and glasses of wine during happy hour. They usually leave before the sun goes down and the party crowd comes out. This will take some planning on your part to find the right bar. You know its the right place because there will be little to no men and the drinks will be overpriced.
volunteer events. Not sure how many 27+ years olds you'll find, but lots of beautiful women 18-26 volunteer in my area. These are the types of women that tend to not go clubbing. bonus side effect is you help out your community.
church events. Lots of women go to church and are active in their community. Lots of single women in your target age range, too. I actually know two women who sing in their church choirs (30 and 33 years old, respectively). I met them through different methods, however.
women friendly events in your area. Often you have to get tickets to these types of things in advance. events like wine/cheese tastings or cooking classes or whatever.
tourist type activities. Think of what a tourist would do while visiting your city. Live in NYC? go to the statue of liberty. San Francisco? check out the pier. Lots of women hang out at these places because they are unoriginal and can't think of anything else.
musicals/plays/theater type events. Start going to local shows in your city. Their target market is the female audience and hence a lot of women go watch plays.
paid dating events. When women hit the wall (right around your target age range) they get desperate and are willing to pay to meet successful men. The women you find here are probably not the best LTR material but are still good for plate status if you are willing to pay to go to these events.

EDIT: I'm going to keep adding to this list because I'm on a roll and I'm looking for new things to do anyways. Check back periodically to see if I've added anything

"activity nights" something like trivia night at the local bar, or maybe join a coed softball league, or kickball, or similiar

My advice, try museum gallery exhibits that pertain to mature topics, such as Renaissance art, don't pick up the chicks at the dinosaur exhibits, they always have kids. Also, don't pick up chicks at the exhibit of the month thing.

It works for me because it's set up by different groups.

It's like reddit in real life but with real women willing to actually go do shit, and 99% of them are single. I got more notches on Meetup in the past 5 years, than anywhere else since college, excluding daygame.

Charity 5k runs etc. Fitness events in general.

You get a wide range of women going, they're all fit or motivated enough to get off their arse, you have something in common and the adrenaline feel good high of completing something together. On a similar note, go to your local gym's spinning, pilates [insert stereotypical women's class here] session and be focused on the subject matter and not the women directly and you'll drown in pussy in the age range you're exactly looking for.

I've found 18-30 are all about the same in terms of maturity. What's different is their interests (older ones are hunting for beta bucks after being plowed for 10 years by alpha fucks). IMO you should give up on the idea right now of older ones being somehow better, and instead leverage the fruits of your station in life to get while the getting is good.

Dance classes. In the summer the crowd gets younger because college girls tend to drop in more. Outside of that, the age range seems more 20s-30s as long as you're in the right area. Plus, it's just fun and good exercise. I like Swing because it's very upbeat, but I've done latin dance in the past as well.

Okay, if you refuse to go into clubs, here's your best bet.

Grad schools (often full of reasonably attractive women who are at least academically intelligent and have purpose in their lives).

Gyms. Gyms are phenomenal places to meet women if you are confident and attractive and looking for women right at the wall age. When do women's bodies start to age and when does she gain the self-awareness to realize what's happening? Right around the wall. Women in gyms are on a last-ditch effort to maximize their sexuality and use it quick. There is the younger hotter crowd too, far better in everyway IMO, but since you asked...

MeetUps, especially for professional women. In the Bay Area, all Meetups tend to be 27-33 year old women who have moved here for work and just are lonely and friendless. I am not sure how much Meetups have caught on in your city, but if they have, they are a... copper mine of wall-aged women. Go to networking events and social events.

Day-game in malls. Malls are full of women of all ages. It is a classic PU zone that no one remembers anymore. If you like women who dress fashionable and probably have their own money (or a rich provider), hit up the classier, less High schooly malls.

Group fitness events, like marathon training, trail biking, hiking, etc seems to have a sizable number of women in their late 20's, with the added bonus that they tend to be in decent shape. The only challenge was finding single ones, I saw a lot of rings when I was doing it.
