So many reasons, women are usually single by choice, they can have sex more reliably but also tend to have a lower sex drive, women can touch friends without it being sexual or weird, and women tend to have better support networks. Women also get a lot more validation from men which lets them know they have options when they are ready.

So basically women call the shots for what they want when they are single and have a lot more mechanisms to enjoy single life.

A lot of men are single until the right women walks into their lives and that might only happen once every 3 years. During that time they are probably trying and failing to get women and might just give up on dating entirely. They might think something is wrong with them and they may go years without receiving a compliment. Add in a higher sex drive with lack of touch and it can be pretty depressing.

Women do more work in relationships typically. More chores, more child rearing, and still clean more. And men are more likely to not seek mental health care treatment. Men aren't as concerned with acts of celebrating relationships like dates and anniversaries.

I don't notice this honestly. Most female friends I know hop from boyfriend to boyfriend or are constantly getting back with their exes. I have one single friend right now who isn't doing hook-ups or anything and everytime I hang out with her she just talks about how difficult it is to not be dating or fucking (she's staying away from it all at the moment due to some personal issues which is def a good idea for her). Every other young woman I know is either in a relationship, fucking around, or desperate to be in a relationship. Maybe it's just the people I'm around and the fact that my social circles are full of very young people, but it's very rare for me to meet someone who is genuinely content being single unless they're quite a bit older.

Sterotypically men are more likely to be the focus of heterosexual relationships. Generically women are trained to put forth the needs and comfort of others, above themselves. Since her male partner is most likely to be her closest intimate connection, he's more likely to get all of the benefits of her socialization to care for other people more than herself.

Unless a woman is a statisical outliner, she's more than likely been indoctrinated to cater to her male partner, more than her male partner has been indoctrinated to care for her.

Which is why women's "nagging" regarding the health and quality of life associated with their male partner, is the reason why married men live longer and married women live shorter lives. The woman puts most of her time and energy into caring for the wellbeing of the man while ignoring herself.

Sterotypically women lose themselves and their identity in relationships as the role of the "caregiver". It's a demanding, undervalued, and thankless relationship dynamic.

Most women parrot post divorce or after being widowed that the sacrifice and labor wasn't "worth" the reward of companionship from heterosexual relationships. These women say that they prefer their freedom and not having to take care of someone that doesn't reciprocate. They get more value having friends, family, amd community and having boyfriends/lovers if the mood strikes them.

Typically the general consensus is that heterosexual relationships are more of a burden for women. It's essentially looking and caring after an able bodied man who barely likes or respects you. Lots of women detail moments when they're sick and their husbands abandoning them or not picking up the slack in their time of need. When they needed their male partners the most, they got nothing.

Not sure, but here are my guesses:

I have heard over and over again, since way before I even had a single bit of interest in boys, or don't even know why boys and girls are supposed to like each other, that I shouldn't overly focus on dating and boys. And I keep hearing people tell me that being single is great, you don't need a guy to be happy etc. etc. It's very common messaging to a girl.
Women needs sex less on average. It didn't bother me at all I never had sex until my late 20's. After I had it I was like "oh, this is pretty nice", but before I had no real desire for sex specifically.
Women have tighter friend circles that can help with emotional support. Girls also talk to their moms more. Men can be very close and good friends with each other but just don't talk about certain things. My brother and husband don't know basic info about what's going on in their friend's lives. They know generic stuff like where they work and who they date, but none of the details. I can talk to their friend of 10 years for an hour and know more details about their lives than they do. Funny thing is that they're super interested in the details after I get them, but they just don't ask themselves.

Because most wo.en already do all rhe shit around the house or most of it. With a sex toy you take care of the sexual aspect with less effort AND you know for a fact you are going to cum and it will be amazing. In my experience is the complete oposite.

My single male friends (who never had a relationship) and those who only have their first relationship now (we are all early 30s) are overall happier and more satisfied with their lifes. They have learned to enjoy what they have and not complain because that wont solve anything, the world doesnt pamper us.

My single female friends on the other hand bounce from one idiot to the next. They either get used for sex, emotionally abused, cheated in short term relationship and I could go on but you can imagine the overal picture. The worst part is that they dont learn, I had to explain just a few hours ago, to one of my friends (28F) why it is a bad idea to go have sex in the house of some guy she met last weekend.

My only happy and content female friends are the ones who are in a couple since their early 20s.

My personal theory is that men's value in society, their manliness(?) is judged by how many women they can court. Men with low body counts, or no GF or wife are judged to be low-value. The more women they court, the more their value as a "man" increases in the eyes of other men & society as a whole. Other men look up to men who have a lot of success in the sexual marketplace, while men look down on men who struggle. Thus, a man who has trouble courting women is judged to be low-value.

On the other hand, society judges women's values as inversely related to how many men she has slept with. If a woman sleeps around a lot, she is labeled a slut. Here value gets lower with each additional man she sleeps with. Even a woman who is single is not judged for being single by other men, because she might be "retaining" her value, holding out for a better man. There is not a whole lot of social pressure for women to sleep around, but there is a lot of social pressure for men to sleep around.

Even if we disregard social norms, we can look at how often men and women are satisfied during sex. Men are more likely to regret sex they did not have (Ex- I should I have talked to that woman, I fumbled the bag, etc.) while women are more likely to regret sex they DID have. As women get older, they tend to have sexual encounters they regret, and so when seeking future relationships, they compare it to their past and believe it's better to avoid sex they will regret than take a chance on a man they are unsure about.

•Bragging rights

•A meal

•A clean home

•Children that will continue his legacy

In other words, men pursue relationships more because they have more to get out of it. Women, on the other hand, are overworked and unappreciated, which explains why divorce rates (mainly initated by women) are so high. The only thing men love and care about is themselves and many women who have realized this just remain single than choosing to deal with a man-child.

I don’t know if happy is the right word but when you see the sheer number of miserable women who are in relationships and married it makes you think “maybe I don’t have it so bad after all, better to be patient for the right guy.” I also think of all the downsides of even good relationships where women are expected to take on the majority of home duties as well as modern work life. Makes the overall process of waiting less miserable when you see the downsides to relationships on a daily basis and enjoy what you have here and now.

Many reasons but, it boils down to this: Women (XX) are wired to be far more social than men (XY). Women create and maintain nurturing social connections throughout our lives. Men do not. No fault to them, they are just not wired to do this nearly as much.

As adults, they get this need met through a partner. Not saying single men don’t have friendships and acquaintanceships. They def do but, they tend to be based on action and on common interest rather than nurture,deep connection, and support. Ex: a pal you play golf with, a pal you get beers with…etc. etc.

Typically, men don’t have intimate enough relationships with their guy friends and fam members to call them up and be vulnerable But women do. So, it can get pretty lonely and depressing being a single man. This is what drives them to find a partner.

Also, access to sex and non-sexual physical intimacy. But this is the least of the reasons, actually.

This is why men tend to be more bitter and miserable single than women. Though they will try to tell you the opposite.

There is this message going around about how men should not get into romantic relationships and/or have kids. It’s going to be disaster for them.

A lot of people weighed in on this and there are a lot of great answers. I think in the past it wasn’t socially acceptable for women to remarry but for men it was. Even today when women date again after their spouse died adult children can be very against their mothers dating again. Not as much backlash for fathers but still some is there. I think also society demands a lot from women as they are the caretakers in most situations. Being relieved of some responsibility is nice. A lot of women enjoy living alone as they get older. Some also don’t want a man because they don’t want to take care of someone, older people tend to have more health issues. They may enjoy being in the company of a man. I work as a nurse at a nursing home. So I know a few things.

I think men want particular kinds of relationships, not that they want relationships " more" than women and are less happy than women being single. They want some woman to have sex with them, listen to their boring stories and then leave. They do not distinguish between a quality connection or not. They care that they are getting need ABC met because that is how their brains work.

Many not all women enjoy emotional connections apart from sex and if they are getting their emotional needs met from friends/family/pets/children and they have a low or low to normal sex drive they can easily exist as single beings.

Honestly? It's not worth the effort a lot of the time - there is a paucity of good men, or even acceptable men out there. I have no interest in being someone's maid or mother.

Honestly if I broke up with my current boyfriend I probably would be very much done with dating - too much weirdness, dysfunction, baggage, desperation, games...it's exhausting and for a lot of women who are independent, self-sufficient and have a large and rich social life with friends and family outside of a romantic partner it's not actually worth it.

For men on the other hand - well, the dating game is just as shitty for the ones who want a genuine relationship but men tend to prioritise romantic relationships as strange as it sounds - it's hard to explain but I've observed it a lot with the men in my life - for example before my boyfriend and I started dating (we're both 30 now and have been together just over 3 years) I spent most of my free time (such as it is) with my friends and family or on my hobbies- I'd go on girls weekends, out for drinks etc even with my friends who were in relationships... sure it was harder to coordinate but my social circle was still pretty active whilst my boyfriend found his social circle was rapidly shrinking - he told me when we first started dating that he used to go surfing or climbing or mountain biking with the guys almost every weekend then one by one most of his social group got girlfriends and suddenly he was alone or with maybe one or two of his remaining single friends and it was obvious he found that pretty lonely and now, like his friends he spends pretty much all his free time with me (preferentially, I have zero issues with him going on his surf trips or meeting with the guys but he seems to want to spend the majority of his free time doing stuff with me), I see this in a lot of men - my brothers, male friends, my girlfriends partners ...when men get into relationships they tend to cut themselves off socially or put all their eggs into one basket so to speak, if I was to speculate as to why I'd guess it's because most of their social needs are being met by their girlfriend/wife/partner as opposed to women who tend to need and seek out a larger social support system - but I really don't know... that's why when couples break up although the woman is usually more upset in the immediate term after the breakup long-term it's been shown that men usually suffer more due to a diminished support system and loneliness.

Generally speaking, it's about choice. Or the illusion of it. If you can have access to sex and relationships at almost any time you desire, you can remove yourself and feel as though there is always a time when you can hop back in. If you have had sex, relationships and offers from others, you can stay single with the comfort of knowing it is there when you want it again. This is great if you are a young woman. Not so if you are a young man or much older woman.

If you have never really had sex or a relationship, or had little experience, you are going to desire it more. If options are limited, you will feel left out or left behind. You will feel insecure and seek out relationships to fulfil a need for a connection with someone. Having that choice taken from you makes you a bit more desperate.

Are women happier single? Well, they are unhappier today than they have been compared to six decades ago, allegedly at the height of sexism and control by men. Men have stayed relatively the same. Women claim to be happier single but are really upset they cannot find a partner who meets their (ridiculous) expectations. And for all the complaining about rich, white men being the worst, they do desire them the most. Women do desire long term, committed partners and they do eventually ask where all the good men went off to.

They just like to create the impression they can live without men because they put up a "strong, independent woman" front and no one dares point out their insecurities because it is tantamount to sexism. They are also usually approached by men so are generally seen as higher value than men. This privileged position means they can spew misandry under the belief that no man can measure up and be cheered on by other, equally miserable women calling each other queen's.

I think it’s because women get more emotional support from friends and family because vulnerability isn’t seen as a weakness for them. A woman can open up emotionally and cry and have her friends support her, encourage her that she doesn’t need a man to make her happy and she’s just gotta go out and be a girl boss.

Men are told they can’t open up emotionally so they don’t talk about their loneliness and lack of relationship because they don’t want to be seen as vulnerable and then teased for having feelings, so they just suffer alone with a generally poor support system.

I think that alone makes it significantly easy for women to cope with being “alone”. They don’t feel alone because friends and family make them feel supported. That’s not usually the case for men.

In a lot of cases they’re actually not and they’re putting up a front. I have some single female friends. On social media, it looks like they’re happy socialites. For instance they’ll post a bikini photo sipping a drink with some caption. When only an hour before that they were having a complete meltdown about a guy ghosting them. They post that to see if he’ll like it. I’m literally going off of what they divulge to me.

Appearances are deceiving.

When I hang out with them, they ply me for advice on how I landed my husband. Because they want to get married. But aren’t willing to give up their lifestyle (marriage isn’t a social life killer it’s a social life adjustment but they don’t see it that way).

And then when I give said advice (be selfless with your time, do thoughtful things for his coworkers/family/friends - take your boyfriend’s office a home cooked meal!!, be an asset to his life) they spurn the notions of doing anything other than chasing likes on insta and going into debt trying to travel. They want to appear happy but this is wasting their youth and energy.

Of course this isn’t all women and I’d have to be a moron to think it applies to all women. Just saying, women are excellent at distortion. On a more superficial level, they’re more likely to use filters and photoshop. So why wouldn’t they be more prone to disguising how they really feel, you know?

Because most women have an endless source of attention and validation, primarily through social media (people constantly complimenting them, DMing them, trying to get with them, etc). So that instinctual need is met one way or another, whereas for men it needs to be the raw traditional way of actually getting to know someone and spending time with them for the same fulfillment to take place, which is harder to do.

Also I’m not the sort of person to think of most women as overly-promiscuous creatures (even though sadly many young Western women [and men] are these days), but let me just add that “single” doesn’t always equal “alone.” Ever heard of friends with benefits? When women look for a mate we are looking for someone that adds value and meaning to our lives. And I don’t mean a sugar daddy. Women can make just as much if not more than men. We are graduating with more degrees than men. We can keep house without a man. We can exist without men who do not bring something to the table. We often have extended friends and family networks. If we want sexual companionship we can get it. What we do not need is a dude that doesn’t bring much to the table. Many single by choice women have experienced unegalitarian relationships that were a net negative and so they drop out of the dating market. Those of us that settle down with mate (especially those of us in the professional managerial class) do so only with our equals. This dynamic leaves a lot of bottom tier guys out of the dating pool. But thus is evolutionary biology. Bottom tier males loose out.

Women have always been ones to provide emotional energy in a relationship whereas men were traditionally material providers. But now that both men and women are expected to work and provide for the home, men still haven’t picked up the slack emotional labor because certain cultural aspects of traditional masculinity still play a large part in one’s worth as a man.

Essentially the current situation (late stage capitalism, momentary shitty economy, downfall of western civilization, whatever you want to call it) has women in roles of homemaker and breadwinner while men are still just breadwinners and rely on women to cultivate happy homes.

A think there are likely a number of reasons for this.

1: The average Woman has a significantly lower sex drive than the average man. Lots of Woman on here will disagree with this but there have been countless studies done on this subject concluding the same thing. This stands to reason given the direct correlation between libido and testosterone levels.

Of course unlike the average man the average woman can easily obtain regular sex outside of being in a relationship if she so wants to. Most men would be just as happy-if not more so- than Woman are being single if they could still get regular causal sex. In fact I doubt there would be many men that would choose to be in a monogamous relationship at all if he had the sexual options most Woman have.

2: Woman are simply more social creatures. They are more able to foster intimate and emotionally fulfilling relationships independent of a romantic and sexual connection. They can have their emotional needs meet through friends and families in a way many men don’t.

3: Woman simply don’t like sharing resources in the same way that Men do. Men are programmed through evolution to be providers. Woman are programmed through evolution to be consumers. Committed romantic relationships largely involve the division of resources. As we reach a stage in human evolution whereby Woman by and large are able to bring the same material resources to a relationship it is not surprising that many Woman simply are choosing not to do so. Not only do Woman no longer need Men when it comes to providing resources they simply don’t have same the innate desire most men have in terms of sharing resources with those closest to them. Men derive much of there self worth through the ability to provide for other people. Woman don’t and therefore are less likely to subconsciously or consciously want a dependent.

One more factor: women are more likely to get alimony after a divorce, men are more likely to provide it. So women are often economically ahead compared to men after a divorce, and don’t need additional assistance; they may not even need to work at all.

Where I’m from we start young, unfortunately . I’m in my early 30’s now but I’ve been having sex, dating and in serious relationships since the age of 13. One thing I have noticed is that the girls I’ve been with over the years have always had older women in the lives (mom, grandma, aunt, family friends, mentors) that tell them “they don’t need a man” “men aren’t shit” “Be strong and Independent” etc. Pair that with todays pop culture heavily embracing the same thing and the fact that women can literally work and provide for themselves, a lot of women believe men are useless and therefore are more content with being single.

However, I do believe that changes as they get older. Especially when they are coming upon or have hit that Wall. The the funny thing I’ve noticed is that every older woman in my ex’s lives that are in their 40’s, 50’s and 60’s that continually spout this nonsense are sad, lonely and depressed…..Some even suicidal because they are single and don’t have a man or committed relationship.

I have other companions, a sex drive that can go dormant (while sex isn't that hard to find), don't worry about cheating, lying, dumping, expectations, alcoholism, or any other risks or downsides. I also have my own issues and am fine not burdening a partner. When I've tried to date, the general disappointment has made it easier to turn off apps or just turn to women, which is a thing for me.

It's not necessarily that I am immune to loneliness, but I think generally men are just...driven to seek partners more. Older women or those otherwise uninterested in making babies asap just don't have the same level of drive. I think it gets inside mens' heads more and there are often fewer outlets for connection. If feminism has long been about emancipation, and there has long been pushback against that, what does that say?

All across human history, you see a redundant theme in most cultures regarding courtship and creating new generations of life; men pursue women, and women decide (if they're allowed) which pursuer is good enough.

You could write it off as a conspiracy, that there's some globe-encompassing 'patriarchy' forcing everyone to do this, and we can free ourselves by destroying this paradigm.

That's a lot easier to chew on (but a lot harder to substantiate by evidence) than the grim realization that, this pattern is the result of millions of years of natural selection in environments with specific selective pressures. Namely; that women can pretty much just sit there and exist, and still end up reproducing AND that men who based their reproductive strategy on women doing any real work to pursue them back, overwhelmingly tended to die childless.

I feel like women in general have some more struggles in life than men. It could be a number of reasons why this happens women get sexualized more than men do, women like sex but we are little more specific about when and why we want it.

Could be that they were better cared for and emotionally open compared to men at a younger age which teaches women how to be a little more independent as they get older while men struggle with that.?

Whereas many (if not most) men have a scarcity mindset because we have to put in extraordinary effort to get dates and maintain attraction due to the competition from other men.

Because more men want consistent sex. Women on the other hand understand the toll a relationship takes especially since men act like it’s like gods greatest gift to the woman, then act like little tyrants once in said relationship.

After a while, some women realize, this whole thing is a scam run by men for centuries. There’s no need to be dependent on a man, chances her he will be dependent on her emotionally, and financially.

So women have become more selfish, just like men, and are choosing to prioritize themselves over a man or a relationship.

It's sex drive basically overall. When a woman goes for a long time without having sex her sex drive drops while for a guy it goes up. Overtime when she gets older her drive vanishes nearly completely and she has no desire to seek a mate especially if she knows her options are limited to over and she's self sufficient. I know lots of middle aged well off single women who have no desire to date or marry. Culture also matters a lot, in some cultures the widows just don't remarry
