I usually avoid getting myself in these types of situations as much as possible. Does that mean you don't get to go out at night? Well, it means you need to be sure where you're going, and even then there might be a group of guys that pull this shit.

I remember i was out with a group of mostly girls, and they wanted to go to this place, where i've witnessed people getting beat up and had rocks thrown at me, so yeah i decided i wasn't going and told them why, they said they were going anyway, saying i was making a big deal out of it and the place wasn't so bad.

I can't be sure if it was that very same night, but during that weekend, a guy got stabbed at that place, and later died in the hospital, because of a situation just like you described, a girl got her ass slapped, guy confronts slapper and then gets stabbed. Just like that, a life lost over a slap in the ass.

If you're going to be walking around town at night, either know where you're going or with a larger group of people. And honestly, if i lived in the US, i would always carry a gun with me.

VERY tough situation to be in. I've got a very lengthy mma background, and I wouldn't have done anything more than you: 6-1 you have no chance, period. Unless you have a decent weapon on you (baseball bat for example), and few people are around, your best bet is to do nothing. Countless men have been beaten to a pulp in this situation. If there were lots of people around, I'd rally a crowd and try and fight them (yelling what happened would have a pretty good response in most cities). If it's just you guys, you're fucked either way. All you can do is save face afterwards. There is no scenario where you come up as a winner, and your health is worth more than anything else.

My thought is I would ask the guy in the group to apologize to her (from a distance).

If he disregards it, I'd pull out my phone and fake call 911 out loud to report an assault and say that there are multiple men injured, name the spot, and then it end with "Yes officer, I'll still be here in 10 minutes." Pocket your phone and approach them ready to go while maintaining a good amount of distance.

Either they risk staying and having to interact with the police or they leave. If they ditch, you go back to your girl and say you faked the call. The confidence along with taking action will make her feel like she was defended well.
