It’s your ex wife. She’s your ex wife for a reason. For lack of a better expression: who cares? Remove yourself emotionally from her and move on with your life.

It’s never about the house chores, they use it to channel their anger and resentment that’s completely unrelated. It’s no longer exciting for them and they only realize it once the day to day real life sets in. These are the type of women you absolutely RUN from — ungrateful, demanding, emasculating, and mean. Count your blessings she showed her hand only 3 years in and cut your losses ASAP. The right “one” will literally make you feel like a king, because she values what she has (you), and appr…

My wife didn’t think I was serious about the situation until I filed, then it hit her like a ton of bricks. If you still want to save your marriage you need to figure out a way to get through to her somehow, and if you are unable to do that then it’s probably for the best that you move on. After I filed and we were close to signing papers she finally came to her senses and basically begged for me to come back, but by that point for me it was too little too late. I had already moved out and menta…

Yes exactly that. Roommates and business partners for matters related to kids and finances. Almost no closeness, very infrequent sex, lots of stupid arguments and power struggles, lots of resentment and no warmth. The little time we did spend together would either be me walking on eggshells or trying super hard to avoid getting into another fight. Just miserable all around.

Yes, this was my situation to a T. Three years of me making great efforts to reinvest and salvage a marriage and relationship that was dying in real time. Add two kids under 3 on top of that. I tried many approaches, from initiating more date nights, handling the majority of chores, continuing to be a perfect dad, trying to reignite the spark with gifts, trips, marriage counseling, and clear effort. All of the effort was swept aside by her, taken for granted, and my needs and desire to reignite …

Unpopular opinion, probably: your kids will grow up and lead lives of their own. Best case scenario they will want you to be an active participant in their lives. Nonetheless, they will start their own families. When they get older, they will probably understand your circumstances better. You, however, have one life to live and have chosen to share it with your current wife. If you are happy with her and she is happy with you, the situation with your children not withstanding, you need to priori…

This is nonsense. Have you gone through a divorce? I have, two months ago, and moving out had absolutely zero effect or impact on my settlement or custody agreement.

I’m sure you’re feeling better NOW, but your current situation is not sustainable. Your marriage is irreparably broken, so sooner or later you will have to bite the bullet. In my experience the optimal choice is always to choose sooner, not later. Best of luck.

This is an absolute disaster, what are you thinking? You need to serve this woman and go no contact immediately after. It sounds like you are using the kids as a crutch for your continued suffering. Unfortunately this approach is 99% likely to not end well for you, or them.

Can you separate, move out and live separate lives without getting divorced? For all intents and purposes, you ARE separated. This way it would allow you to start a new life, see other people, and continue taking care of your kids, without being formally divorced in the courts.

You are a madman if you proceed with this relationship. You seem to be fundamentally incompatible—place of living is no small topic. It majorly influences the trajectory your life takes and how you feel about your environment every day directly affects you. She seems unable to compromise on this majorly important subject. And further expects you to knock her up regardless of circumstances and your own position on this life changing decision. Like I said, incompatible. Pull the cord while you sti…

I agree that she is not fighting to save the marriage and so she probably wants it too.

We’re out of state at a lake house. I didn’t want to stay in the same house as her but she asked me to. After one fight that was obviously going to happen, I’m asked to find my own lodging for the trip. Just frustrating being toyed with.

Thanks. Unfortunately this isn’t our first “divorce rodeo”, but it does feel real this time. Good luck friend.

She started spiralling in her behaviour after the first kid. Then completely gave up during / after the 2nd kid. There were signs for years before that, though. -verbally abusive -self-centered/selfish -puts husband last -shows husband no respect -treats husband like ATM -no longer an emotional connection -no interest in conversations or open discussions -no communication to discuss problems or interest in conflict management -no sex -no ability to self-reflect or admit wrongdoing, cannot take c…
