This is normal, and is the essence of casual dating.

It's important to keep in mind that not everyone likes the same type of drink, and occasionally people will find some of the fiercer alcohols unenjoyable. For example, I enjoy a good puro-de-agave silver tequila sipped straight at room temperature, but that's too sharp for lots of people. Some people like wine, and not beer or liquor. Wine can vary quite a bit within "varietals" (types of wine, like malbec or merlot), as well as within vineyards (a super tasty harvest one year may not be so grea…

Better than going to arbitrary clubs is to root out venues that cyclically host music events you're into. For example, San Diego has a drum and bass scene. Additionally, look up the artists you like and see if any are going to be performing locally any time soon. There you can meet people that are there because of a common interest in, say hardcore drum and bass, rather than simply going out and standing around amidst music you're not into. The idea is to go out and do things that you like.

Right? Sometimes I feel like I'm incapable of having female friends without being attracted.

Give it time. You're gaining experience, and as these encounters happen more and more, you'll get better at responding in the moment.

Moving too fast, perhaps? Additionally, if they're not down to go home with you after just meeting, but they are interested, why not get their number and go on a date?

She was obviously interested, but has a policy. Should have gotten her number and gone on a date. She'd have already met you by then.

The IEEE might disagree with you: http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpl/login.jsp?tp=&arnumber=4215793&url=http%3A%2F%2Fieeexplore.ieee.org%2Fxpls%2Fabs_all.jsp%3Farnumber%3D4215793

Foreword: sorry for the wall of text. There's a tl;dr. The "it just happened" vibe is truly magical, and not something that should be endangered. A perception I seem to encounter somewhat frequently is that the information on this board is an attempt to systematize the wooing of women. It's a valid perception, and the information can be thought of and applied in that way, but I think it's not the clearest way to view it. Look at what happened: "got pretty friendly with a girl" "obvious she wante…

Clean up your your speech. You can barely communicate. If she wants a kiss, and you want to kiss her, then kiss her!

Murder your anxiety; it's holding you back. If someone is checking you out, you're already in a safe environment. Forget that you're inexperienced; that doesn't matter. They're telling you they're interested. Call them over, or go over and say hi. Remember, you're not going for results dependent on other people. You're going for the introduction. Your goal is to put your apprehension aside and force yourself to relax and say "hi".

Yes, you're viewing this incorrectly. Let go of your ego. Not everyone who fails to respond has done so out of a desire to intentionally show you disrespect. No one owes you anything, respect included. People have lives that require them to not pay attention to their inbox every moment, and you need to be okay with that. Someone disrespects you? Someone is uninterested? Fine. Let them be and spend your time exploring people who respond to your interest in kind. A fundamental component of being c…

Sort by significance. If she's taking your hand and initiating making out with you then aloofness by text is nothing to worry about.

You're worrying too much. Stop writing scripts and go hone your skills in the real world. Leave this shady garbage for used car salespeople.

Remember, your goal isn't to get a date, your goal is to approach, being confident that you'll be okay regardless of the outcome. With time, the confident attitude will de-condition the natural nervous response, and you'll get more and more comfortable each time. Let go of your fear. Keep trying. The hardest part of learning any new skill is the beginning. Math, dancing, walking, etc. You'll gain experience in anything you practice.

Calibrate your image by comparing it to a new dataset: hang out with her more. As you learn more about who she is, your image of her will get more accurate. That said, I think dwelling inwardly on your image of someone might be the wrong way to spend your time. She actually exists in the real world. Go hang out! Stop wondering, stop dwelling, and quit worrying: you're not falling in love. You don't know who she is yet, and you're not sure if you're interested. But it seems you might be, and she …
