A few years ago (before finding FDS), I was in a situation-ship (i.e. a relationship but was undefined) with a guy during college. This was my first relationship ever, and I was in my pick me phase, extremely infatuated with him. Why you may ask? I thought he was cute because he was quiet, nerdy, tall, skinny, olive-skinned... I remember we both couldn't stop smiling every time we looked at each other. 🥴 Pickme-me thought I couldn't ever find a guy who looked like him in my life so I thought he …

This made me INFURIATED. What kind of Christians host a bachelor party anyways?? A hypocrite one at that. Not to mention that her Bible-loving ex, most likely preaches the Gospel is the same person to turn on her back, and not actually follow scripture. I bet he uses the Bible as a way to one-up himself since he thinks that it’s perfectly reasonable to use the “Let’s read the Bible together” during their argument to dismiss his faults and feelings of guilt.

That's attributed to shallowness, for sure. The sad thing is that most of these men have a hard time being in a relationship, and if they end up in one, it's mostly short-lived (either through a breakup such as divorce). They see women as commodities, to be used up or shelved for their own purposes. They know their lack of self-worth which is something they try to project onto women.

Former pickme used to date guys who looked like him, unfortunately. His dead sociopathic stare, bushy eyebrows, curled up lips (? Not sure why guys do that while taking pics). Oh well. He’s going to drown in his own hatred.

I'm currently an undergrad, planning to head into a STEM grad program and attain a PhD. I 1000% support your decision. Having worked with undergrad PhD track students, most of the guys I've worked with are narcissistic and/or egotistical and think that they're entitled to you doing a favor for them.

In the past, I've been told I was intimidating and hard to approach. But I've learned to take it as a compliment because these were the same men who wanted someone who had little to no boundaries, to control and abuse.

You are not overreacting. A man who cares about you, won't look at other women. If there are so many pretty women out there, why did he even choose to be in a relationship? What a jerk. He's probably had considered/or has used prostitution behind your back too. You're with a trashbag who is only tugging you along for fun. Please leave him and focus on yourself. Although it might not seem like it, there are so many good men out there.

Speaking from experience, my ex didn't want to see me thrive. He wanted me to depend on him while receiving nothing in return. He wanted to control me because my former pickme self used to let him.

I knew a co-worker who spoke like this to me and asked me to explain to him what those terms meant. When I refused to, he accused me of not knowing them and started puffing up his skinny chest and went on tangents of his background. Glad I quit that job early and went to work somewhere else.

To add on: - If he mentions fetishes, or accuses you of being into those fetishes, when you bring up a topic like "feet". Turns topics in sexual ones. - Talks about wanting to be with a pretty model and/or mentions stereotypes such as "all men go after girls who look like this" - Doesn't take care of his looks OR is obsessed with the gym ripped physique - has a madonna-whore complex - shy/passive = most likely manipulative and emotionally abusive - says something delusional like "men giving each…

I'm not surprised. I used to be in a situation-ship with avoidant attachment LVM (pre-FDS), From time to time he'll try to get my attention by initiating small convos with me or hanging out with new women in front of me. I gave him no reaction whatsoever. What I've learned from reading "Attached" by Amir Levine and Rachel S. F. I used to greatly struggle with your issue, OP. I've also started reading, "Living with Limerance" as a couple of commenters have suggested, and found this book to be very helpful. However, I've received the opposite treatment from unattractive men. And it's always the unattractive ones that feel so entitled to date or be seen with a beautiful woman. In fact, they're obsessed with it. [....] There's this weird notion pushed on women by society that less attractive me will treat you better, which is so false. I told him it was misogynistic and full of hate, I mean he was a former feminist, and wholly supports the sex industry 🙄 So after I cut ties with him, I decided to see what Reddit was about. I definitely agree on the aesthetic picture! I love tall athletic guys :) I think there is no way to stop attracting trash LVM. Did porn really turn him into a LVM or was he just a LVM in disguise? I’m not in a relationship yet but I was able to cultivate self respect and control by cutting out toxic people in my life. This allowed me to find better people, and I was able to be in a friend group that is toxic-free.

If the man doesn't talk about other chicks, make immature sexual jokes towards subjects that aren't even remotely about sex. Try this on a guy who've you been going on a couple of dates with -- watch a movie with your date. Say something like a nudity scene comes up, and you make a comment like, "Oh that looks like porn!" If the guy responds with, "eh, yeah. It kinda does." Then he's acknowledging that -in a sense- it does look like porn. On the other hand, if the guy responds with, "Nah they're…

You deserve better than him. Please take the time to heal, I am so sorry you had to go through that. I've regained some hope in men who realize how bad is porn is, and props to OP for breaking free from what is conventionally considered mainstream to watch porn nowadays. I'm WOC, and I've dealt with a LOT of guys who had the case of yellow fever (e.g exclusively is only into East Asian girls). I 10000% agree with this. I had to go through an emotional turmoil of getting over a toxic male friend. I'm also 19, and it is my first year in college. Most of my insecurities from relationships came from social trauma in high school. One affected me deeply, to which it took me a while to recover. No, no, no. A woman should never ask a guy out. He’ll think she’s easy and desperate for him. The man is meant to pursue a woman. If he hasn’t asked her out yet, that means he isn’t as interested as she is into him. I had a guy ask me out to set up a date after the quarantine ends, awhile ago. Then as we kept getting to know each other, he EXPECTED me to chase after him. I could tell was that he was a LVM who wanted attention.

my boyfriend was a porn addict so the answer doesn’t seem obvious. He says he cares so much about me yet his behavior shows he cares more about following these girls even though he knows how much it hurts me. You pretty much answered your own question yourself, and you know that this relationship is hurting you. Just because a guy chases a girl doesn't make him an HWM. Any kind of guy can pursue a girl, shallow or not. That means NVMs, LWMs, and HWMs. If a guy chooses to be with a "shallow girl" or a trophy wife, that means that he is an LWM who is looking for a girl that is attractive yet with no ambition. He constantly jokingly complains that she drags him to do shopping with her whenever they travel, while he’d rather explore the city. If he is interested, he will respond within a few minutes - less than 24 hours. Some guys wait intentionally to avoid looking desperate on their part. On the other hand, if he goes more than a day, weeks pass by, he doesn't have you as his priority and that's his loss. LVMs seek attention and girls who are easy to get so they'll prey on them instead.

Before I found out about FDS, my views on dating were considered "traditional" and "boring" by guys who I told to. Apparently guys say that "women should be easy to get, easy to get laid and fuck around." because it is modern culture, LMAO. From hearing about my friends' experiences, people become enamored with their partner, and if there were any red flags that show up (especially in a toxic/abusive relationship), they are scared to leave because there's a piece of insecurity in them that says,…

HWMs does exist. They're there, but what I think is that they're more likely to find at a social event, or somewhere work-related. Given the number of players on online dating, there's probably a slim chance that HWMs appear there, but it is possible. I don't do online dating myself, so I don't really know well about this area. Can someone explain what actually benefits from having FWBs? (And no, sex is not an answer) I just can't see it actually being a benefit. And usually, people do this to avoid commitment from what I see, and that it is "no strings attached". But from what I hear, usually, someone in an FWB relationship is bound to fall in love with the person they are doing it with. Looks like natural selection get around pretty quickly. Also porn /= masturbation. Guys who lack social skills and sit in their room jerking off to god who knows what, are most likely going to stay single. I never really understand why it’s “ok” for a girl to directly ask him out. Maybe in secondary school it worked, but in the adult world it kind of seems childish to do. Every time I said to a guy friend that I didn’t feel comfortable with asking my crush out, he would tell me to “be brave” and go do it. No thanks. I’ll give hints here and there to show interest, but I honestly think men are naturally born pursuers. Guys who say otherwise are just too insecure to confront their interest.
