It's called Youth Bulge Theory. These days, however, migration has replaced war as the mechanism that dissolves the excess of single young men. The aging West welcomes lower middle class migrants from emerging countries, which gives those migrants good marriage options back home.

Where are you all getting these concepts from, this is pure fantasy. Granted, relationships are transactional to a certain degree. Especially if one side only sees the relationship as a temporary engagement without long-term commitment. This power imbalance can happen to either gender.

In US, birth rate is at least still okayish among educated women. In Europe, it is bleak. When feminists don't have kids and non-feminists have plenty, do we society a favour?

There is a winning group: Socio-economic and cultural sub groups who have a higher birth rate. This demographic is often traditional and patriarchic.

In Western societies, there are only two fundamental rules for men seeking to date women: Be Non-Indian Don't be Indian

Non-wealthy well educated men win, non-wealthy less educated men lose. For wealthy men, nothing has changed.

Haha, it's not false. I like to be admired for just existing. Who doesn't? And partially also for my male qualities like being tall etc. But much before that is social compatibility. In world view, level of empathy, fitness, intelligence. Because we believe our search window is much longer than in the past - from 20s to early 40s - we tend to look for the closest match in social compatibilty. We believe we can affort to wait and match and not invest in taking a loss in options. I believe that is…

ok, I didn't want to offend anyone. I am talking about the perspective that assumes this deep power dysbalance

This comes from a desperate incel perspective that women withold sex from men (who are in desperate need of sex). Women also want sex and romance is just part of the surrounding circumstance that allows us to overcome our inhibitions.

I couldn't date a woman who is not a feminist. How could I date someone who lacks self-awareness and is blind to social constructs.

The traditional model works well in many ways when combined with respect ...and a high earning and stable man.

How many gender debates are rooted in the imbalance of online dating? Online dating platforms give a false impression. It begins with an offset in membership numbers, men are just more numerous. Then, men have a broader preference window. Women's preferences are more concentrated above a certain threshold. This leads to a dramatically over-amplified outcome in swipes / likes whatever. The result makes it appear as if men have no values or vetting process. In reality, it's quite different. From m…

You are talking about 2nd marriage market in mid-life? Well, it's a market of compromise. Single moms and men who are stable, intelligent, shy but were considered boring or clumsy during peak fertility of their cohort might be a good match actually.

Nothing too serious, just some clues that form a picture. In direct verbal communication, the dance around turn-taking signals. Who speaks first, when to listen, when to answer. There is an overemphasis. Avoid traffic collisions at all costs (long pause) or go full speed when seeing the clear signal (oversharing). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turn-taking Sometimes, ND people don't like the difference between spoken and meant. The linguist Grice outlined maxims of conversation, basically a proce…

Neurodivergent people seem to be unaware how easy it is to spot this condition. From AFAR. No offense. Applies to neurodivergent women as well. One solution could be to date cross-culturally. A successful career helps. That masks a lot under the fog of cultural difference and perceived interesting quirkiness.

this theory depends on the overarching principle of mating. if the main matchmaking / mating principe is monogamous marriage early in life, above theory does not matter. for each outcast man there is a leftover woman. women will therefore compromise more strongly. if the main matchmaking is promiscuity into mid-life, then the most attractive men will monopolize most women.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
