Ah yes- our enemies who are not us. Them with a capital T. Us vs Them.

OP don’t you think this is an instance of extreme generalization? Maybe you’ve seen women doing this or seen it depicted in media. But there’s no reason to say Women with a capital W do this. That’s a really dangerous game that can lead to some horrible beliefs.

There will never be a platform as large as YouTube that can engage in the level of moderation you’re hoping for- they are already doing too MUCH and it’s far too easy to target small creators and get their channels nuked. Keep your kids in kid safe spaces. There’s literally YouTube Kids one app over. Or PBS, or Noggin. People don’t need to be letting their kids browse YouTube which has a range of age inappropriate content including graphic violence.

It’s your responsibility to make sure what your kids are watching is okay. It’s called being a parent.

I’m aware of the results of the frog exposure however I haven’t seen conclusive scientific data that points to similar effects in humans.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/04/24 08:25 PM

You know that’s definitely better than the more strict nature believers who just think it’s all gay frog chemicals.

I really like that you made the Amazon comparison because it connects in a really deep way. We’re almost just rehashing the revealed preference vs stated preference discussion in economics. The revealed preference in people when you expose them to environments meant to divide their attention, things like apps and websites, are going to align more with fast twitch decisions. It’s a surface level interaction with few to no real social consequences. Does that make this revealed preference more vali…

Tinder is not an honest experimental environment just like the internet is not a place that you should make large generalizations about human social behavior from. TOUCH GRASS

Mind linking me up with some sources? I’m mainly familiar with The Bell Curve and the pretty devastating scientific refutation that followed.

Just to clarify I’m not talking about heritability. Christianity has high heritability. Genetic heritability is another thing entirely. There are massive amounts of environmental influences that can absolutely crater IQ scores.

That’s not how status works. People generally just like to be well regarded and will chase that without the promise of sex often in a way that harms their ability to have sex. For instance men in misogynistic online communities who become more sexist as a way off making friends only to find that they are now forever virgins.

This assumes a high genetic heritability component of intelligence which is-at best- a tenuous hypothesis. Turns out Idiocracy was literally a movie about the need for eugenics 😅

This is autism reasoning OP. Take adult socialization classes.

I’d wager the gender based discrimination would be there but pretty scant. Women have the same hierarchical view of gender that men have received from social conditioning, not a matriarchal mirror version of patriarchal society, Therefore they are likely to view men as more competent and reliable than women. But- this would include typical ideas about men like they are less empathetic or able to do caregiving jobs. I work in a caregiving field surrounded by women though and just anecdotally I’ve…

The key word here is young men. Not average men but a specific age demographic. There are a lot of things informing this issue but the fact that it falls within an age bracket shows that it likely some large ubiquitous societal influence. My money is on the internet.

OK nice conversation.

You’re taking a very rude approach to a simple conversation. I never said popularity was a litmus test for what’s moral and what’s not. However if you behave in a way that the majority of society believes is morally repugnant there can be no surprise when people ostracize you. This is simply how group dynamics work. On the thirst traps thing that’s a pretty bad faith interpretation of her side of it but I don’t really care that much. I disagree with the moral standard you’re referring and am an …
/r/PurplePillDebate13/07/23 07:30 PM

Yes but that’s the underlying issue. Many people think it is morally ok but they are in the minority of society. The people responding are responding to the content of the requirements rather than the whole idea of boundaries. Mostly the clothes and pictures bit and male friendships. However I personally do not care about Jonah Hill at any celebrities I am interested in the fracture in social cohesion this is showing where a large part of society seems to think that you’re not allowed to decide …

That’s interesting. Personally I see it as the content of the demands having to be morally acceptable as well. I think most people on this issue are upset about what the demands were, not the manner in which they were proposed. IE - If you cheat on me the relationship is over = fine Or- You can’t have male friends = controlling

Complaining is a completely normal way to vent. Now if they were to be like ‘you have to quit your job’ then yeah that’s completely uncalled for. Once you have a child in the house though there’s a pretty firm amount of time you have to spend with your kids (having children myself) that would preclude working much more than 45-50 hours a week. Otherwise you’re just compromising the child’s development.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
