I mentioned in my comment that women on average finish the prefrontal development earlier, which means men keep on maturing after women have stopped. This is exactly what you're saying too, if I understood you right. Just to be clear, I'm not trying to draw conclusions about one sex being superior or anything. I don't think even neuroscientists are completely sure as of now. In my understanding, female puberty starts 1-2 years earlier than male, and therefore there's a hormonal growth spurt around age 11 or so for girls, while boys are still, in the hormonal sense, pre-pubescent at this age. These are of course just average numbers. I imagine there's a lot of synaptic pruning and myelination going on in the prefrontal cortex at this stage, which is probably why behaviors tend to switch from childish, to a more teenage pattern. 3	I need help convincing my wife not to get my son circumcised. It's kind of an American thing. In Europe we don't really circumcise boys. Most European countries have a circumcision rate around 2-10% and we're doing just fine. (The UK is an exception, they have it around 20% or so.) It's absolutely not essential.
