As to why the girl texted you saying Friday didn't work...she felt rejected and went into auto rejection. If a girl asks you out you respond within 15 minutes or whenever you get it if you were busy. You don't play games when the girl shows interest to that degree you just close the deal.

Have business cards for this very reason. If a chick makes eye contact with you and seems interested but you are busy or don't have time to approach, walk up hand her the business card and say text me. Then walk away and glance back once. Worst case scenario she doesn't text. Best case she texts you and you have no idea who she is so she has to explain and it sets up your frame perfectly. Literally no downside.
