Not really. No woman I know, including myself, cares about that.

Yes, I am aware! I meant for the boredom part. Do you have any sources for the differences of men vs women reactions to boredom within marriage? Correlation does not equal causation, so I’m just trying to understand from a scientific perspective.

But is “observable reality” not ripe with confirmation bias? I’m genuinely trying to find a source so I can discuss.

That last one I included because I appreciate studies that disagree with what I’m saying… To have more well-rounded opinion, so to speak. I am with you though about the fact that self-diagnosis and masking is possibility just social anxiety, and the validity of it is slim at best. It’s hard for me to quantify, but you really can feel the difference in the therapy room between autistic people and non-autistic people “masking”. And typically I can spot the difference between a self-diagnosis and a…

So in these articles I am trying to assert that “masking” is absolutely a “thing”. One of these studies discusses how autistic people have differences in their actual amygdala, and affects how they interpret faces. That study informs several other studies. And one of the studies above specifically says that while some masking traits are the same, (and can be true for non-autistic people), there are some specific parts of masking that are exclusive to autistic people. Also, the origin of the “mas…

I’ve never let any man I’m serious with pay for dates, unless we’ve been dating for a while. Then we’re likely trading off payments. I’ve literally left first dates where the man wouldn’t let me pay for my portion.

I completely agree on needing wider context for everything we have discussed. I will continue to seek alternate opinions and ask for differing perspectives. And again, I will bring up your talking points at peer consultation. Thanks again, and have a good day.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/24 09:00 PM

Thank you for your detailed perspective. I will actually take your talking points into my peer consultation I conduct monthly with other psychologists to discuss further.

I think most people reading this thread would agree I have not crammed anything down anyone’s throats. I have been completely reasonable in our interaction, and have taken each and every point to heart. I understand this subreddit is for debating, but your overall excitability is really detracting from the discussion.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/24 08:51 PM

Okay thank you for the clarification. I’ll look into her further, and thank you for the recommendation.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/24 08:49 PM

I see. I guess I misunderstood. I’m having a lot of trouble understanding what you want me to respond to, and what you don’t. You’re obviously incredibly passionate about this, but the extraneous points that are only associated with my earlier assertions is really clouding my overall takeaway from your individual points. Surely you see how you’ve kind of dragged me into a debate that I stated over & over I wasn’t here for to begin with.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/24 08:46 PM
1

Right. This is a debate thread. Why are you debating me on points that I didn’t allude to or mention?
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/24 08:43 PM

Just looked up Prim Reaper. Her latest video says ‘therapy isn’t bad for men. Bad therapy is bad for men.’ Which is what I suggested above.

REALLY shown** typo
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/24 08:34 PM
1

Further, to dismiss all of therapy in 4 to 5 sentences because “it can do more harm than good,” is made in bad faith. That sentiment can apply to literally anything, be it depression, personality disorders, etc etc. How can having a professional listen to, empathize, and understand you not be worth pursuing? If anything, this thread has REALLY that men really would benefit just being listened to. An objective listener is even better.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/24 08:33 PM
1

You seem keen to debate me on points that I did not make. For example, where did I say men need to be more like women? When did I shame or say men don’t matter as long as women need support & safety?
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/24 08:28 PM
1

Alright, I guess I can delve into this a bit more. Not to be a shill for my profession, (clinical psychology), but there are several nuanced preliminary studies coming out about the very topics you’ve mentioned above, so I wouldn’t completely discount the resources just mentioned. In my opinion, GOOD therapy will ALWAYS trump online groups, and theoretically, it wouldn’t necessarily matter if the therapist is well-versed in pill or similar rhetoric, as long as they’re a good therapist. Admittedl…

I am offering that one person up top advice the best way I know how. If I were to offer him further advice, I would recommend the free counseling sessions that many campuses offer; I know I myself made great use of them. You are offering many articulate descriptive paragraphs of yours’ and others’ experience, which is wonderful, but that’s not why I commented. Again, if a young man can see the “see-saw falling,” as you so beautifully described, then I would point towards counseling, therapy, or …

Okay, again, thank you for your perspective. Agree to disagree.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/24 06:49 PM

Wow, I see what you’re saying, and I’m really sorry that seems to be yours and so many others’ experience. I can’t even imagine. All that’s to say, I still believe that someone as young as 19 has no business in some of the pill and/or dating subreddits, which is what my original comment attempted to address. For the most part, interacting, being awkward, and FAILING is part of normal sexual/social development. Psychologically going through that (again, not ALL. I’m sure it can be traumatic, depe…

I was that person, and so were many of my friends. College represents a new beginning for many people, and an opportunity to reinvent yourself. I dated a grand total of zero ppl in high school, as did many of my friends. Didn’t seem to have any bearing on how we experienced university. Of course, you can’t just go to college expecting to make friends while doing nothing. I joined a bunch of on-campus groups, and of course did my fair share of utilizing liquid courage.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/24 06:06 PM
2

Whether that is true or not, I still absolutely do not think a child should belong to any online groups about dating. And yes, I’m categorizing anybody roughly 20ish or under as a child. High school does not represent a real dating pool, so there’s no way to have any true experience prior. In fact I’d argue anyone that still gets support from their parents hasn’t experienced enough in life to take advice from any pill communities.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/24 05:39 PM
1

It’s less the advice, and more the joining of the community itself I object to joining at such a young age.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/24 05:23 PM
1

I’m sorry that’s your experience. It is the opposite of mine. Most of my friends (myself included) didn’t even start dating until they were 20 or so in college. I had a large group of female friends including myself, and none of us knew how to talk to the opposite either. IMHO, joining any kind of pill community at that age or younger is incredibly short-sighted. Of course, I understand how it’s easy for me to say, being older & having experienced all this already.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/24 05:04 PM
-2

So you downvoted me because you disagree? Interesting. I more meant when you stop focusing on dating, and just have fun, that’s when women will come & go due to the fact that they’re attracted to fun-loving ppl. This is specially aimed at a college aged dude, btw.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/04/24 04:51 PM
-2

This makes me sad. You’re 19. You haven’t experienced enough life to already feel like this. Just focus on having fun in college and meeting new people. Women will come and go. No red/black pill needed, I promise.

/r/PurplePillDebate13/03/24 10:53 PM

I saw that. But to be meaningful to this discussion, they need to break it up by gender. Who is doing the assaulting and where. That’s why I specified domestic abuse by a male partner, not assault.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/03/24 06:26 PM
1

But this doesn’t take into account domestic abuse. Women overwhelmingly experience it more than men. Surely that is a valid reason enough for our “paranoia.” Especially in dating.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/03/24 06:20 PM
5

Something that never happens? One in four women are victims of domestic abuse, compared to one in nine men. Explain the paranoia.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/03/24 06:05 PM

You’re comparing that to being violently murdered?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/03/24 05:55 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate13/03/24 03:57 AM

The scenario you described absolutely sucks, I agree. I commented what I did because I think it’s beneficial for single guys to have women in their social circle. You’ll seem more approachable to women, and there’s a chance they have several single female friends to set you up with! That’s how I met my life partner.

Everyone meaning…who? The people you surround yourself with? The people in this sub? Would it be fair to say that your scope could possibly be limited by who you interact with? That’s why scientific studies matter. They account for bias. Don’t you also want to see objective numbers?

/r/PurplePillDebate13/03/24 12:48 AM

This possibly could have to do with the fact that it’s finally societally acceptable for women to focus on their career, not their “Mrs” degree and poppin’ out babies. That’s what I did. Went to college, then grad school, THEN found my life partner. And no, he’s not some “Alpha Chad.” And no, I didn’t meet him on an app. I really think some of these frustrations will dissipate as you age. I sincerely wish you the best in finding your lady.

Sometimes women just need time to increase sexual attraction. This can exist without fear.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/03/24 09:47 PM

It just references back to that OkCupid “study”. Again, do you have even ONE standardized, peer-reviewed, scientific study to support your claim? Interesting. Thanks for clarifying. This is certainly a growing topic of interest for ppl in the field, and it is ever changing as we’re in a time of realignment of gender roles. I’ll look more at that author. Thank you for the response! :)

If you truly believe this, then we have nothing further to discuss. I wish you a good day though! And thanks for the food for thought.

I’m not worried, I’m literally participating in a debate thread and left my comment to counteract OPs overall position. For entertainment value.

Okey doke!

To speak for women who are similar to me, who may be single. OP is lamenting that that kind of woman doesn’t exist, but they do. They just don’t want to date men like OP.

I am very, very appreciated by my partner. And so thankful. I’m not sour. I was responding to OP, and other men who share similar beliefs. Sure I might have been snarky, but again, that was for OPs benefit.

Damn. True that my friend.

I’m trying to speak of myself as an example of a larger group of women that exist. There are lots of us. Men like OP won’t encounter us often, because of self-fulfilling prophecy.

Not close minded, just unwilling to be with a partner that does not believe in the possibility of a woman like me. It’s not that hard to understand.

To counteract OP’s worldview of women, as I stated. There ARE good women out there that are financially and emotionally stable. You immediately jumped on me, unequivocally stating something is wrong with me. What an odd take off the jump, but hey, if that’s what you think, then that’s what you think.

Reactivity where? By standing up for myself? For giving OP an example that counteracts his worldview of women?

And how am I bitter? You assumed something was wrong with me from the get go, when all I stated was examples of my success & stability.

I’m also taken! Yippee!

As a psychologist, I find PsychologyToday abhorrent, but I’ll indulge you for now. Why do you think that loss of attraction happens? Traditionally, it is because women were expected to be mothers / husband-therapists / chefs and maids.

Furthermore, if i am exactly who i say i am, i would never choose you. A woman like me would never choose a man like you. Your disbelief is supported by your own self-fulfilling prophecy. Which is just fine for me and other women like me.

None of that is exclusive to women. You must examine on a case-by-case basis, otherwise you’re just choosing a partner because you feel you have to.

Just for fun: What if there truly was nothing wrong with me, and that I AM exactly how I described. What would that mean for your worldview and how you approach women?

This is so true, and I hadn’t thought about that before. Certainly something to consider.

Right? Thank god OP doesn’t want to get married. One less bad apple for women everywhere.

THIS. This is what it’s really about for OP I think, and his defeatist attitude. He likely contains a fair amount of internalized misogyny that he either can’t or won’t examine, and it really comes out with this marriage topic.

LITERALLY the first result on Google

He won’t, because he doesn’t actually want to debate. He just wants to complain about women.

I’m very conventionally attractive, and hold a doctorate. Make 6 figures a year, and I’m not crazy. We’re out there, our standards are just higher than you qualify for.

THANK you. Choosing not to examine this on a case-by-case basis makes no sense nowadays. Depends on the partner. OBVIOUSLY. Ppl just like to turn it into a husband vs. wife, men vs. women debate for salacious value, and it’s annoying 🙄
