In my post, though, I was trying to address what "the field" was, and I was specifically asking about scenes other than bars, since they're not my kind of thing. Moreover, asking if it's okay to hit on women outside of bars (e.g. between study breaks, in student orgs, etc.) is something I thought people could answer, esp. in a college setting.
