I'd suggest this comes down to jurisdiction. When it comes to child support, many jurisdictions don't care if it's the mother or father raising the child: support payments are largely based on a chart refelcting income of the absent parent and number of children. Row 5, column D: $1750 a month. Difficult to argue bias. The table doesn't give a fuck who you are.

She doesn't have a thought process. That would at least be excusable. As a society, we don't hold the mentally enfeebled to the same standards of culpability as we do everyone else. Firstly, the argument I was responding to was only looking at the price of hiring women. I pointed out that there are legitimate reasons where just hiring women because "it's cheaper" isn't good business sense (namely, if they're physically incapable of doing the job). What your example reflects is how the real world works, which reflects what I was saying: that it's more than just "these people can be paid less so hire them".

No, but they can pay someone less for a reason. "You have less experience" is a prime reason. Or, more often, is that wages are negotiated between an employer and a employee (outside of collective bargaining) so if you and I are hired for the same job and I accept $2 an hour less than you, that's not wrong; that's just me valuing my abilities and time less than you.

Fallacious logic. Your reasoning follows this process: 1) Women can be paid less. 2) Paying less is the goal of every employer. 3) Therefore, hire women. Point 2) is what's broken. If I can pay women less, but they can't do the job because, say, they lack the strength to do said job, then paying a woman less to do a job they can't do doesn't serve the purposes of my business.

With gun suicides at nearly 20k for 2011, one has to wonder if implementing background checks into the mental stability of individuals acquiring firearms wouldn't have reduced that.
