Define “fear of being hurt”.

I think you’re giving this person a lot of undeserved grace.

Thanks for the agreement. Admittedly this is a bit of a sensitive topic for me because I don’t connect emotionally with people often, so when I do I get excited and I like to express that. Conversations that seem to encourage nonchalance among men or villainize excitedness about new partners bothers me for a lot of reasons but it feels really weird how much we want to interrogate and remove the joy of human connection. I get this is the seduction subreddit but we cannot be advocating for a world…

Taking it slow is good advice. Even better advice is actually communicating that need or concern rather than pulling away to determine whether someone is either a manipulator or an idiot (according to the previous commenter). Generally I don’t like rhetoric around dating that promotes a certain nonchalance. Dating should be fun and exciting. Yes some people are manipulators and yes other people will give a lot in the beginning and fizzle out later but there must be a better way to filter for tha…

If he responds to an earnest conversation about feeling overwhelmed by getting defensive or feeling attacked then that seems like it’d provide a more convincing reason to start pulling away than just being suspicious of someone being overly affectionate. In your own comment above you conclude that the only possible results of pulling away are him proving that he is being manipulative or that he’s an idiot who’s overextending himself. It says a lot more about you and how you think someone should …

This seems like a terrible way to filter for those kinds of men.

To my knowledge men love a chase too. I hate chasing women and I hate feeling like I need to pretend not to care for them to be interested, but by all accounts both sides like to chase and be chased. Just depends on the person. My opinion though is that if you like someone enough to be present and available for them, unambiguously showing your interest, and that turns them off, you didn’t lose much. I think telling people to act aloof or distant in their interactions is bad advice for the dating…

Not gonna say “bang and leave”, but she’s not the one so if you aren’t gonna do that I wouldn’t entertain it. You’ve improved your life, and that’s good, but I assume you’re not a wildly different person at the core. If she couldn’t appreciate who you were before she won’t appreciate you now.

I think I agree with this post. When I was younger I used to say, partly in jest, that every straight dude on the planet needs to just not chase women for like a year. I don’t hold a lot of the same opinions I had back then but I think about this from time to time. I think it would level the playing for everyone to be equally desperate for attention and validation. In a sociological sense I think it’s pretty detrimental that we as men just seem generally unable to not make sex, and pursuit of it…

But he barely even had a chance to ignore her. He saw her in passing and then got drinks with her the next day. I think she was into from the start. Also it’s not really ignoring if he wasn’t even thinking about her like that. He was just chilling. When she gave him attention he was present. I think this is a better example of playing it cool than anything else

I think there is a not insignificant part of this subreddit that things being seductive is equivalent to imitating every bad boy trope we see in media. Some girls want that, but that’s not what seduction is about. For instance, rather than telling someone not to respond to texts or leave conversations at a high point or don’t make yourself so available, I prefer advice like: get a hobby, expand your friend circle and develop a social life. You know things that would actually make you busy or una…

I don’t think that’s true of human nature as much as it might be true of an attachment type. I’ve straight up unfollowed or deleted contacts cuz those people were too hard to reach and seemed to only respond when they felt like it. It’s easier for me to forgive the people who aren’t so far gone but I definitely lose interest.

Not sure why you’re downvoted but I agree with you. This is one of those game tactics that borders on being manipulative and definitely seeks to take advantage of people’s insecurities/complexes (or creating them). If you don’t want to answer a question, don’t answer it. If you forget to respond to something, that’s fine too. But when you start putting on a face and purposely ignoring people to make them “go wild”, it’s weird.

This is the appropriate takeaway. You get what your game is built for. Everybody has natural game (literally be yourself), but everything isn’t for everybody. The things the OP posted about sounds like a lot of work to me too, but that’s cuz my game isn’t built for a woman like her. She wouldn’t like me. But I also probably wouldn’t actually like her. Being sexy and seductive is a learned skill but it’s always important to be yourself and do what comes naturally as well.

Yeah I was like, this isn’t anything new. Also some of the things she said give me the feeling that she’s got very little self respect tbh. If you have the self awareness to reflect and learn that you’re into people that literally ignore the things you’re texting them, there might be other things to think on before telling a bunch of guys to do the same thing.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
