In my experience, self help books are at least 50% the author jerking himself off. The rest may be useful though.

Be attractive.

This. It's all about attraction. If she's into you, I hard to say something wrong. If she's not into you, it's almost impossible to say something right. I've noticed there's a lot of tactics and no strategy on this sub.

Treat you worse how? Do they expect you to pay half the rent too if you move in together?

I know a lot of guys on reddit start shitting the bed and howling at the moon when a woman has preferences but it's OK to prefer taller guys.

My two cents: bow out of the convo as soon as you can, which really shouldn't take more than a minute.

It's attractive if it's mutual. If someone I'm into expresses desire for me then it's hot. If someone I'm not into expresses desire for me then it's annoying at best. The level of intensity has to be mutual too. If I'm just enjoying her company but she's acting like she wants to get married, then it's a turn off.

So you should demand her phone number? Or not ask for it at all? A little empathy goes a long way dude. Oh, and forgetting about that alpha beta bullshit can lower your blood pressure.

It's as uncomfortable as you make it. Try this: "would it be against company policy if I asked for your number?" Beyond the script: you're not only asking for her phone number, but you're giving her an out and generally indicating that you can take no for an answer. Being approached, in and of itself, doesn't make people feel cornered and uncomfortable. The cornered and uncomfortable part comes from the fact that a lot of people can't handle rejection and there's a good chance the reaction is go…

Show confidence and empathy at the same time. "Hey I know you're doing whatever she's doing but I just had to come say hi." Obviously confident (you're cold approaching her) but also respectful enough to see that she's busy and try not to take up a bunch of her time. Throw in a subtle compliment ("I just had to come say hi") and you've done the best you can. Tread lightly though, lots of people don't like being cold approached at all.

My experience: if you sit in a bar long enough, someone will vibe with you. YMMV

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
