It seems you really don't understand what you're talking about, and are unwilling to learn. Sad.

Do you think men and women have different brains? If so, it's not crazy at all to imagine that sometimes there's a mismatch between the body and brain. Enough with the name calling. It just makes you look like you're losing your cool over a internet discussion.

I disagree - most feminists who aren't TERFs (trans exclusionary radical feminists) understand this. It's just that TERFs are crazy and very very loud.

Again, that supports my point. Gender is innate in the brain and cannot be changed by how you are raised. It shouldn't come as a surprise that trans people exist once you understand this.

I can try! If gender was a result of socialisation, then someone like the poor man in the OP would have grown up happy female - he would have been able to accept it because that's what he would have been told and treated as. However, if there's some part of your brain that determines your gender formed before you're born, then just being raised as a girl wouldn't be enough to make you accept you are one - your brain is expecting you to be male and no amount of being forced to wear a dress or bei…

Actually, it totally backs up claims made by transgender people - this is often cited as a perfect example of how gender is innate and not a result of socialisation.

That was the priest who officiated the wedding saying that, not the woman.

Actually, almost all feminists hate this peice of trash. She's pretty universally reviled due to the things she says about men and trans people. She is basically walking proof that transphobia stems from man-hating, and that doesn't jive well with everyone.

I had to wipe my previous comment - I didn't realise the poster edited the title from the article, which actually makes it misleading and incorrect. This is a "transgender woman", not a "transgender man". No matter how you feel about trans people, it only makes sense to use the correct terms.

I think people under 15 can only have their puberty blocked anyway, a reversible procedure that allows the person time to mature before making a permanent choice.

It appears to be the Daily Mail - it's a trash-tier conservative paper from the UK. It's certainly not a feminist paper, but more about 'traditional family values'. You know, "men must earn money and women must stay home and raise the kids"-style.

It's not new, but it's not exactly liberal either - other feminists call them TERFs or SWERFs. They are like the 'lawful evil' of feminists - they want to strictly regulate pretty much everything, in order to keep the poor womyns safe from the evil rapist men. Most feminists despise those guys for a number of reasons, one of which is because TERFs hate the sex industry (normally feminists want to see prostitution legalised so that sex workers can protected by workers rights laws and access healt…

I wasn't arguing that transition causes less suicide. I was arguing that transition does not cause higher suicide rate, which was cynicalsimon's claim. The article I posted directly refutes that claim. Trans surgery regret is extremely low (between 1 and 2 %, Cohen-Kettenis and Pfafflin 2003). However, to add to my point, some studies show that transitioning does in fact lower suicide rates. Gorton 2011, (Clements-Nolle 2006, De Cuypere 2006) but I haven't read those studies myself and I'm not s…

I want to respond to that point - "To be clear: No, the study does not show that medical transition results in suicide or suicidal ideation. The study explicitly states that such is not the case and those using this study to make that claim are using fallacious logic." Direct quote from article. It sure does mention suicide.

Well there's no science that backs up your 'thoughts', so... Shrug Anyway, I'm not MGTOW, so this isn't a space for me and I don't want to intrude. Good luck with your path, and keep fighting the good fight re: circumcision.

Here's an article about it, which is admittedly from a pro-trans site, but includes an interview with a researcher from that study and links to other sources. It covers how people misinterpret that research to try to deny trans people effective treatment: http://transadvocate.com/fact-check-study-shows-transition-makes-trans-people-suicidal_n_15483.htm

The studies I listed. I don't need to find the page numbers and lay them at your feet. Those are the studies that back up my claims.

Lying with peer reviewed studies?

That's very hard to study, as trans treatment is changing and improving all the time. We can only go on the data we have, which says that yes, at the moment, people who have transitioned are overwhelmingly happier than they were pre-transition, and the regret rate is extremely low.

Lying with peer reviewed studies? Don't let your feelings get in the way of science, mate. It's proven the best way to 'treat' gender dysphoria is to let people identify as they choose. If you don't want to help them do that, you're just standing in the way of other people's happiness/sanity because it doesn't 'feel right' to you.

Sorry, on mobile. You should be able to find from the studies I listed, though.

Murad 2010 and Ainsworth 2011 found that individuals who receive treatment not only are better-off than those who didn’t but are not significantly different in daily functioning than the general population. So it's almost always better for trans people to have treatment and be treated as their preferred gender than forced to live in a body they aren't comfortable with. Anyway, I only visited here for the anti-circ discussion. I hope the tide is turning against this cosmetic procedure which offer…

Sorry, but that's wrong. Most trans people are satisfied with surgery - it has a higher satisfaction rate than things like plastic surgery. The high suicide rate is likely the result of people still refusing to treat them as their preferred gender. If you want to help trans people to not kill themselves, being kind to them is a good place to start.
/r/MGTOW03/12/16 07:36 AM
You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
