Getting some downvotes for being a spammer is not stalking. But several SRS regulars have had people try to track down their private info to harass and intimidate them.

Here we have a young woman who has been taught that if she had sex, and didn't want to, it's rape. Last I checked, that was the dictionary definition of rape.

Really? I thought stalking and harassment were illegal Yes. Everything you're doing right now is illegal. and that what you describe is an awareness campaign. No. If you wanted an awareness campaign, you would be calling attention to their words, not their private lives. You would attack what they said, not attack them. Post a rebuttal, don't hunt down their employers to ruin their lives.

What private info did I post? I posted a link to a download site And what was on that download site?

Who cares what happens to them. Congratulations, you're a heartless monster. Also: MR didn't do it to them, they did it to themselves. They doxed themselves, called their own employers, and harassed themselves to ruin their own lives? No, you did this.
/r/MensRights22/12/11 05:59 PM

can you with 100% certainty say they wouldnt hurt the children ? Burden of proof lies on the prosecution. You need to prove they were going to hurt kids. And then you would take that proof to the police, not an internet lynch mob.
/r/MensRights22/12/11 05:58 PM

You've released their names and addresses, and you're calling their employers trying to get them fired. That's stalking and harassment.

/r/MensRights22/12/11 12:49 AM

That's still vigilante justice. You're running a smear campaign, getting them fired, and sending harassing phone calls. You're going to ruin their lives just because they said some things you don't like!
/r/MensRights22/12/11 12:48 AM
-2

You don't think even a single person might take it too far? You think every single MRA will restrain themselves and know exactly where to stop? Plenty of people in this thread are this close to screaming for blood, and I don't even want to know what even more radical sites like The Spearhead are saying about this.
/r/MensRights22/12/11 12:46 AM

What do you want people to do to these feminists, and how is it not vigilante justice?

/r/MensRights22/12/11 12:27 AM

How is this not against TOS? Reddit pretty much has just one rule, and that's no posting private info. Saying it's okay because it won't show up in a search is the dumbest loophole.
/r/MensRights22/12/11 12:26 AM

None of them ever said they were going to do anything to anybody. You're making shit up.
/r/MensRights22/12/11 12:15 AM

Where exactly did any of them ever say they were going to commit any violence or murder? Their only crime was idle chitchat on their own tiny little forum.
/r/MensRights22/12/11 12:07 AM

What crime, pray tell me, have they committed? None. Which is exactly why you shouldn't be going after these innocent people. You're literally acting as thought police. And internet vigilantes? Ah, yes. That old chestnut about us being "dangerous males". Yet, even though not a single MRA has ever harmed anyone, these women aren't outed to us alone. They are outed to the world. To the parents of the children they supervise, to the public officials they advise, to the social services they are memb…

Not half as batshit as you guys considering they never stalked, harassed, or attacked anybody. All they did was keep to themselves on a quiet little forum of 50 members, and you've thrown them to the wolves for it.
/r/MensRights21/12/11 11:37 PM

Kinda like how you're falsely accusing them of trying to start genocide?
/r/MensRights21/12/11 11:35 PM

A hit? LMFAO! I have never condoned violence against these people. Nobody's condoning violence against you. But you yourself said you're afraid to release your own name because you fear retribution from violent radicals. Do you not see the irony in this? What makes you think that's not going to happen to the people you've exposed, but would happen to you?
/r/MensRights21/12/11 11:34 PM
-12

Pedophilia and feminism are two completely different things. Are you seriously trying to compare the two? But even in that situation, publicly doxing them would not be okay. You'd report them to the police, not internet vigilantes who might end up killing someone.

Irrelevant. I am not a member of forums dedicated to hatred and which discuss plans for terrorism Oh yes you are. This thing you're doing right here, stalking and harassing people who you disagree with politically? That's terrorism.

These people would see me dead in very short order....or in prison on some trumped up shit. And you don't picture the same happening to the people you just put out a hit on?
/r/MensRights21/12/11 10:58 PM
-4

You have to remember that anyone who would choose to undertake something to specifically harm a group makes up such a statistically insignificant portion of the population as to make the occurrence negligible. Each year, there are more people that die from the flu than from this type of hate violence [on the magnitude of 10 x.] Oh, so that makes it okay to add more harm? Anyone who would do something "stupid" was already going to do something "stupid." That person just needed someone to hate. Bu…

You're going to get someone killed. You've handed over the private lives of these people to an angry mob hellbent on 4chan-style vigilante justice, all because they merely expressed opinions you don't like. This kind of thing never ends well, and the blood will be on your hands. Shame on you.

The jury is not out on that, some people think it is parody, others think it it is to be taken literally. Those others are the same people who think Jonathan Swift really wanted to eat babies. Anyone with half a brain can easily tell it's not serious. The SCUM Manifesto was written by Valerie Solanas, a radical feminist who shot Andy Warhol. So? Just because she snapped and did some bad things later in life doesn't prove a thing relevant to her earlier work. And even if the SCUM Manifesto is sat…

I love the assumptions you feminist tards are making. how about we simply out these folks, and let employers, parents, and voters decide if they want hateful bigots like this in positions of power. You didn't answer my question. Should that apply to The Spearhead as well?

/r/MensRights17/12/11 06:47 AM

Great rebuttal, you make a clear and relevant argument. I see now the error of my ways as you have proven why it's a good idea to stalk people with different opinions.
/r/MensRights17/12/11 04:25 AM

Whats really amusing is your spin on this. Definitely show your loyalties. Oh, and say hi to your MRA buddies! You guys are all super smart, and clearly know whats right and wrong, all the time. I'm just sad our time couldn't have been longer.
/r/MensRights17/12/11 02:11 AM

The FBI is not going to go after people who voiced radical opinions on a blog. But they're sure to go after people who stalk and harass them!
/r/MensRights17/12/11 02:11 AM
43

If you have a problem with their words, call out their words. You don't need to hunt down their private lives. Would you support the same kind of vigilante justice against users of The Spearhead? Or is it okay when they're on your side?
/r/MensRights17/12/11 02:09 AM

And what does he expect the public to do with this kind of information? It's very likely that someone will stalk and hurt them.
/r/MensRights17/12/11 02:02 AM
12

Have you bothered to actually read r/MensRights? They've got people who advocate stalking and harassing anyone who posts to a site they don't like, and promote vigilantism! We should go dox them!
/r/MensRights17/12/11 02:00 AM
2

Oh really? Its totally different? I will ask again, have people on manboobz been harassed? Have any of them experienced real world consequences as a result of manboobz attention? Have any of them been "outed"? No they have not!
/r/MensRights17/12/11 01:57 AM

How about the SCUM conference? It's satire, dumbass.
/r/MensRights17/12/11 01:56 AM

'Calling out' would involve making a reply in situ. We often do that too. And those bots are there effectively doing it for us. Plenty of people are monitoring SRS and thus will see us call them out, it's not just some hidden corner where nobody will ever see it.
/r/MensRights15/12/11 02:12 PM

The problem though is that many times when the "bigotry" is called out, the comments are taken out of context, or are justifiable responses to other parts of what's not being linked. We always add the context to the link, and most of the time try to stick to ones that are obviously awful rather than borderline defendable ones. The reality is, calling people out for perceived bigotry is very different from actually going through and writing an intelligent response to it. Even if the person doesn'…

If the bigotry is challenged and self-policed The problem is that on Reddit, it often isn't. That's why we focus on calling out bigotry that was upvoted.
/r/MensRights15/12/11 02:16 AM
-11

If I find a troll, I load its profile page and downvote all of its comments. So after assuming, without proof, that we're a downvote brigade, your response is to downvote brigade us? Classy.
/r/MensRights15/12/11 01:15 AM

It's funny how if you flipped the genders around, that paragraph would be a perfect description of r/MR.

We feel the same way about all these posts and bots and such whining about us!
/r/MensRights15/12/11 01:12 AM

/r/MensRights05/12/11 12:54 PM

So do all MRAs also have to own up to any and all awful things your fringe members say?
/r/MensRights05/12/11 12:40 PM

Back to my point: SRS's format is downvote brigade bait. Not our fault, especially when we've done so much to mitigate the possibility of downvote brigades. And it happens a lot. [citation needed]
/r/MensRights04/12/11 07:14 AM
2

If moderators could track someone's upvote/downvote behavior then you could put up flairs and what not to police the situation. Since you can't, well then it'll happen. So if there's nothing we can do to prevent possible downvote brigades, why do you blame us for them? So do you encourage downvote brigades directly? No. I'll accept that you discourage it. Exactly, and so we shouldn't be held responsible even if downvote brigades were to happen anyway, given that we've done so much to ensure that…
/r/MensRights04/12/11 06:58 AM
2

And I'm annoyed by your denial of how we're not actually a downvote brigade - you just admitted you're going to call us that regardless of whether or not we actually do that!
/r/MensRights04/12/11 06:26 AM
2

While this guy is encouraging downvote brigade mentality, he's just a guy on an MRA sub. So if he actively tells people to downvote, that's completely okay, but if we make our own alternative to /r/WorstOf, that clearly makes us a shadowy cabal that's secretly out to downvote? I don't understand your logic. SRS is an entire sub dedicated to posting "offensive" stuff So? and giving everyone the means of going in there to "purify" the thread. What the fuck are you talking about? What is that even …
/r/MensRights04/12/11 06:25 AM
2

So why does everyone moan that SRS is a "downvote brigade"? Surely we could all just downvote too and cite the same excuse you're using.
/r/MensRights04/12/11 06:18 AM
2

Well we've never done either, so we're still ahead of your "Now, I'm not telling you to downvote, but hypothetically if you wanted to..."
/r/MensRights04/12/11 06:13 AM
2

So no matter what anyone does you're just going to keep calling us a downvote brigade, regardless of whether or not we actually do that? That's a little unfair, isn't it? You know, if that's the case maybe I will just go ahead and start downvoting you all en masse. If you're going to accuse me of it either way, I might as well live up to those accusations just for you!
/r/MensRights04/12/11 06:10 AM
2

You keep saying that, but you haven't given any reasoning or evidence. "Because I said you are!" is not valid proof to label us a downvote brigade. And you also didn't address the latter half of my question!
/r/MensRights04/12/11 06:09 AM
2

No, we've gone to great lengths to discourage outgoing downvote brigades too - the sidebar, frequent reminders in meta posts, reprimanding anyone whose screenshots show that they downvoted, some posters switching their format to make the screenshot the main link and context in comments, etc. What more do you want us to do?
/r/MensRights04/12/11 06:05 AM
1

And what makes us the downvote brigade, rather than this guy right here handing out instructions telling everyone to go downvote us?
/r/MensRights04/12/11 06:03 AM
1

Uh, look all over this thread. Everyone's complaining that SRS is a downvote brigade, so apparently they're saying that we're shouldn't be allowed to downvote.
/r/MensRights04/12/11 01:21 AM
3

So what's the difference between you downvoting and us downvoting? If we're all entitled to downvote anything we want, why do you turn around and complain about downvote brigades?
/r/MensRights03/12/11 07:19 PM
5

If you now stand by those comments, why'd you go back and edit them all?
/r/MensRights03/12/11 04:46 PM

when used for a good purpose against bad people "By calling you a retard, I'm making the world a better place! What a good purpose! What a bad person for objecting to it!" Yeah, I'm pretty sure "because I don't like you" is not a valid excuse to use slurs.
/r/MensRights03/12/11 09:23 AM
3

You have no empathy because you just admitted that you used such hurtful language on purpose, fully understanding why it's wrong. I've made no claims of "victimhood", I simply told you to stop doing that. Despite the associations you'd like to make about the handicapped (or rather because of them), I think I can safely say my brother is a lot smarter than you. He's certainly much better with empathy, that's for sure.
/r/MensRights03/12/11 09:05 AM

I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt, but if you want to admit that you completely lack empathy, fine.
/r/MensRights03/12/11 08:55 AM

Asking for you to back up your accusations is "retarded"? If you claim you have conclusive proof, why don't you show it to me? Also, my brother is mentally handicapped and so I spend a lot of time working with him as well as disabled friends. I'm personally upset by your careless language. Please don't use words like that to negatively associate the handicapped with posts you don't like. It's incredibly insensitive and makes you come off as a jerk who doesn't care about how anyone else might fee…

Would you also say /r/WorstOf is a lynch mob for the same reasons? They seem generally accepted on Reddit, and I've even seen people in that subreddit complain about us for things that apply to them just as much.
/r/MensRights03/12/11 08:23 AM
2

Right. Why is this so hard to grasp?
/r/MensRights03/12/11 08:21 AM

So wait, remind me, which group is it that's a downvote brigade?
/r/MensRights03/12/11 08:20 AM
2

They already did on multiple occasions, bringing the entire frontpage of SRS to the negatives. That's exactly why we disabled downvotes. We're completely consistent in not wanting downvote brigades, you guys are massive hypocrites for saying you want to downvote brigade us.
/r/MensRights03/12/11 08:18 AM
3

Yeah, different content and views, but it's the same kind of showcase that would alse make it a downvote brigade according to this thread's reasoning. I'm just highlighting the contrast in how that subreddit is accepted by Redditors who then condemn us with complaints that apply equally to both.
/r/MensRights03/12/11 08:16 AM
-1

I would say that the majority of the people here do understand why some redditors wouldn't want to celebrate AnnArchist. Then why are they claiming it's all because of a feminist downvote brigade instead?
/r/MensRights03/12/11 07:11 AM

SRS isn't burying anything. We're just an angrier /r/WorstOf, showcasing awful posts for all to see and ridicule.
/r/MensRights03/12/11 07:08 AM

Admins confirmed that actual CP was traded, and if you'd read the thread you'd see begging for nudes far beyond any simple joke.

hahahahahahaha yeah it's definitely bots and sockpuppets not that I just shared your wonderful post in our super secret IRC hideout so everyone could downvote brigade laugh at it btw tell me more about how your conspiracy theories are more plausible of an explanation for his links than this one, especially considering that the bots that instructed people to downvote us have used that same trick
/r/MensRights15/11/11 07:19 AM

/r/MensRights15/11/11 05:42 AM

I don't understand what you're talking about. The only bots are being used to spam against SRS and have nothing to do with links posted elsewhere, why would this matter?
/r/MensRights15/11/11 03:37 AM

How would those URLs affect them? They just refresh the new queue of SRS for links to follow and comment on anyway.
/r/MensRights14/11/11 07:10 PM

What bots? You mean the ones that are constantly being used against us?
/r/MensRights14/11/11 01:48 PM

EDIT2: My word, the downvoting machine is pretty effective here on r/MensRights. Make a legitimate inquiry, get downvoted to oblivion. Make unsubstantiated remark, TO THE TOP! Don't be silly, everyone knows r/ShitRedditSays is the only downvote brigade!
/r/MensRights13/11/11 01:58 AM
4

Why did you add r/ShitRedditSays+none/ to those URLs? I've only ever seen that done by groups that were trying to downvote brigade us. I hope you're not doing that while simultaneously accusing us of downvote brigading you!
/r/MensRights13/11/11 01:56 AM

Why did you format those as multisub links?

/r/MensRights09/11/11 08:17 AM

It's going nowhere because you keep pasting the same shit instead of addressing the points I'm making or answering my main question: How is a "democratic" downvote brigade at all relevant to r/BS?
/r/MensRights09/11/11 05:35 AM
4

A meta post completely unrelated to the subreddit? I don't think you know what the word meta means!
/r/MensRights09/11/11 05:01 AM
6

So? Just because you can be an asshole doesn't mean you should. And you haven't explained how a tutorial on downvoting is relevant to r/BS. The only possible link between the two is to fuel downvote brigades.
/r/MensRights09/11/11 04:38 AM
6

tl;dr our whole point was to ask people not to do that, it's a dick move, and it's obvious you're just trying to get people to downvote brigade us. Why can't you respect that a subreddit doesn't want you guys coming in to downvote en masse?
/r/MensRights09/11/11 04:19 AM
5

You haven't disabled downvoting. You CAN'T. You just hid the Downvote button. Yeah, because we had a bit of a downvote brigade attacking us the other day and hoped this would stop that. Hopefully it would send the message "Hey, don't downvote here." NOT a How to Downvote Brigade post. That was for noobs, to give them their democratic right to vote up or down. A right to downvote? Funny, people seem to constantly complain that we should never be allowed to downvote. Yet you guys get to make tutor…
/r/MensRights09/11/11 03:36 AM

And the MR mods endorsed it in this thread, which is why I'm bringing it up.
/r/MensRights09/11/11 01:40 AM

Wait, that guy's a mod? He's the one who made that How to Downvote Brigade post!
/r/MensRights09/11/11 12:40 AM
18

Everyone constantly accuses SRS of being a downvote brigade, but these guys openly admit it. And instead of complaining about them too, you endorse them! They also ban anyone who tries to argue in favor of feminism and delete every last trace of their posts. Does that sound balanced to you?
/r/MensRights09/11/11 12:37 AM
5

If SRS is so terrible, what makes the MR-approved r/BigotryShowcase okay?
/r/MensRights09/11/11 12:22 AM
6

If a bunch of people start a fad about walking on all 4 limbs, will you insist that that every store have a section for "hand shoes" and "cispedal shoes"? This hasn't happened, has no biological basis, and is utter nonsense. Being transgender is a real thing, please don't disparage the most discriminated against minority with such ridiculous analogies.
/r/MensRights07/11/11 08:49 PM
3

So it's more pathetic if you're a man than if you're a women? That's awfully misandric of you to say!
/r/MensRights07/11/11 07:15 PM
3

You do realize that SRS was responsible for the removal of r/jailbait, right? You say that like it's a bad thing. I mean, all we did was catch them in the act of trading CP. They'd love to see r/mensrights go too. Never! Where would we get all our material from without you guys?
/r/MensRights07/11/11 07:12 PM
4

yes. it's so beyond the majority. So normal = majority and every minority is abnormal? Wow, I don't know what to say about that crazy of an interpretation. i'm not sure that I understand the 2nd question. a trans person explicitly wants to be referred to as not trans? no, that isn't okay. the only reason for that is to have casual sex with surprise victims of their scheme. No dumbass, I'm asking what extra description I'd need when I explicitly want to refer to cisgender people if you don't like…
/r/MensRights07/11/11 07:00 PM

So being transgender is abnormal? And what about when you explicitly want to refer to not being trans?
/r/MensRights07/11/11 05:37 PM
17

Especially on a women's subreddit!
/r/MensRights06/11/11 09:13 PM

But hetero white transgender men would end up fitting that description, so the meaning isn't the same. You know what happens when you assume, right?

We whine about "What about the menz?" because it's changing the subject, and 9 times out of 10 people who make those posts are missing the entire point of whatever issue is being discussed.

You sound like you are speaking in very gendered terms to me. Well almost everyone in that thread was male and was talking about them wanting to have sex with women, so that's the scenario I responded to. And when numerous people brought up the reverse thinking I'd somehow approve of that scenario, I repeatedly said "No I'm against that too." they blame the woman for wearing a short skirt in a bad part of town late at night. they blame the woman for wearing a short skirt they blame the woman
/r/MensRights29/10/11 10:34 PM
7

They are calling her stupid for not knowing any better, That counts. They're saying she's at least partly at fault, which means they're putting some of the blame on her. You should really try reading up on these topics before spouting uninformed bullshit, this is 101 stuff. Pretty much the textbook definition of victim blaming.
/r/MensRights29/10/11 10:19 PM
10

There is no culture that finds making jokes about rape acceptable. Uh, have you been to Reddit lately, for example? Happens all the time. Even if a person expresses a view that a woman should have known better than to walk down a bad neighbourhood at night in a short skirt, and she gets raped, they're still sympathetic to the rape victim. And they're still victim blaming. Even if they mean well, they're expressing a horrible sentiment. That's a sign of a problem in our culture.
/r/MensRights29/10/11 10:13 PM
10

So your definaition of 'rape culture' is just about victim blaming? No, it encompasses a number of things: victim blaming, rape jokes, rape apologism, objectification, etc. In a nutshell, it refers to how our culture doesn't take rape seriously and sometimes even normalizes it. So why dont you call it that. Because there's nothing wrong with the existing term? Infact, why shouldnt the MRM take the term 'rape culture' and use our own definition, which encompasses not only the effect of societies …
/r/MensRights29/10/11 09:53 PM
15

Its the presumption that all men are capable of rape, This has nothing to do with it. and that we live in a society that doesnt take rape seriously. This does. 50%, F, see me after class.
/r/MensRights29/10/11 09:31 PM
20

The core of 'rape culture' is that all men are potential rapists and condone rape. No it isn't. Peripheral questions such as 'she shouldnt have been wearing that short skirt' That question itself is a key example of rape culture.
/r/MensRights29/10/11 09:22 PM
33

That's not what rape culture means at all. You should try looking up the definitions of things before you bitch about them. Maybe try reading a book or two while you're at it.

And how do those things prove that men don't hold the majority of political power?
/r/MensRights22/10/11 05:40 PM
2

Patriarchy must be codified law as in legally Uh, no it doesn't. Again, you're clearly misunderstanding what the word does and does not mean. What it means is that there is a large imbalance of power between men and women. Whether de facto or de jure, it's still patriarchy.
/r/MensRights22/10/11 05:17 PM
0

Alright then, here's some cold hard numbers on who holds political power in the US: Presidency: 100% male Vice Presidency: 100% male Cabinet: 66.7% male Senate: 83% male House of Representatives: 83.2% male Supreme Court: 66.7% male State governors: 88% male Men hold an overwhelming majority of power. That is the dictionary definition of patriarchy. If you still don't get this, you apparently don't understand what the word means! Protip: not everyone who disagrees with you is a bigot.
/r/MensRights22/10/11 01:18 AM
2

You need to take a remedial gender studies course. Nuh-uh, you're wrong!
/r/MensRights21/10/11 08:11 PM

True, most high ranking politicians and are men. So what? These sample spaces are composed ENTIRELY of outliers. Politicians are not outliers. They're the ones that hold power! If you would like to take a rational and unbigoted view, yes you could say that the wealthy oppress the rest of us (kyriarchy), but extrapolating out to all men, or most men is simply dishonest, bigoted, illogical, and fucked up. These two -archies are not mutually exclusive. BTW, in more enlightened, less religious count…
/r/MensRights21/10/11 08:01 PM

So you're saying it's not true that men hold the majority of power in the western world?
/r/MensRights21/10/11 07:18 PM
2

Seriously? Now you're going to tell me the patriarchy is a myth and it's bigoted to think otherwise? What, do you live in a parallel universe where every major political office is held by a woman? Men hold an overwhelming majority of power in the world = patriarchy Rape victims are stigmatized to the point where they can't come forward without fear of retribution = rape culture
/r/MensRights21/10/11 06:06 PM

I think you're misunderstanding what rape culture is.

Have you really never heard of people refusing to believe rape victims and instead slinging further verbal abuse at them? Are you also completely unaware of how many victims end up being too afraid to come forward and report their rapes due to fear that nobody will believe them and they…
/r/MensRights21/10/11 03:40 PM

Rape culture is a very real thing. We absolutely do live in a world that trivializes and normalizes rape, and is horribly prone to blaming and shaming victims. Way to ignore decades of cultural research and studies!

You didn't even read Aerik's explanation of the difference between the two, did you? How about you show me a joke submitted to SRS and a joke in the comments of SRS that you seem to think are identical and I'll explain why they're not the same.

/r/MensRights14/10/11 03:11 PM

No it isn't. Our existence is to call out and shame bad posts from bad posters and show that the hivemind is supporting their awful shit with upvotes. Downvotes would be completely counterproductive to that goal! Even if we were a "downvote brigade", is that even a problem? Downvotes happen everywhere else on Reddit and people accept that, but suddenly if a downvoted post is found within 100 miles of us it's a Reddit Felony. Why do this site even have downvotes if they're so bad?

/r/MensRights06/10/11 10:39 PM

How is that any different than interacting with someone of any sex with a little knowledge (a dangerous thing) and a big ego? It's a term for exactly that, when the subject being ignorantly explained is feminism.
/r/MensRights06/10/11 02:31 PM
14

Seems to me like he's just using the three girls as the voice of the entire radfem movement Well, they're not. He's using his strawman to disingenously misrepresent feminism. If you'll pardon the Godwin, I found this comic and it's hilariously perfect. Sure, there's probably someone who was that crazy and screaming about it. Does that make the strawman representative of all Allies? Does it make Hitler right? Is there any valid point at all in this comic?
/r/MensRights06/10/11 10:24 AM
13

Mansplaining (n). The tendency of some men to mistakenly believe that they automatically know more about any given topic than does a woman and who, consequently, proceed to explain to her- correctly or not- things that she already knows.
/r/MensRights06/10/11 10:04 AM
19

Womyn is an actual thing, yes, but this comic has grossly misinterpreted it just to make it look crazy. And of course all subsequent panels are completely made up. It's truly just this template for countless argument cartoons.
/r/MensRights06/10/11 09:59 AM
21

You're making up things nobody has actually said for the sake of shooting them down. The evil feminists being railed against are fictional. All you want to do is complain - about something that doesn't even exist! A fallacious argument is indeed immediately bogus. That's how fallacies work.
/r/MensRights06/10/11 09:28 AM
2

There's a big difference between blackout drunk and tipsy. But if you're unable to tell the difference, just err on the side of not rape! Seriously, why is the concept of just not having sex with someone that repulsive to you guys? Are you that desperate that you need to justify taking advantage of someone who's not in control of their cognitive facilities? Is it that hard to wait until they're sober in the morning?

Holy strawman, Batman!
/r/MensRights06/10/11 08:40 AM

Yeah it is. That's the reason it exists. That's why at the end of every single submission you guys write the total karma of each post you're linking to, so the downvote knights know where to go and what to do, as if to say, "you GUYS!!!!! LOOK AT THIS SHIT! PEOPLE ARE UPVOTING IT!!! FIX THAT!! FIX IT WITH YOUR DOWNVOTES! THIS ONE IS PARTICULARLY BAD BECAUSE LOOK AT HOW MANY UPVOTES IT HAS! HURRY!!!" OMG DOWNVOTE BRIGADE
/r/MensRights02/10/11 03:39 PM

So? You still have plenty of crossposts that meet your own qualifications for what constitutes a "downvote brigade". Just because you have other posts too doesn't make you not a hypocrite.
/r/MensRights30/09/11 06:01 AM

And suddenly SRS gets hit with a flood of downvotes and posts far beyond anything supposedly seen here. Gosh, how'd that happen?
/r/MensRights30/09/11 05:24 AM
2

So? You still do do it from time to time.
/r/MensRights29/09/11 11:16 PM
1

So you're telling me that SRS has never posted anything "You know what to do" kind of posts? Not ever? Not once? Indeed we haven't. When we crosspost, it's to showcase an awful post. When you crosspost, it's to storm the thread with your own MRA posts.
/r/MensRights29/09/11 10:36 PM
3

but get a bunch of self-righteous twats together in one subreddit and link to comments that offend them So, every time r/mr crossposts something they dislike, are they guilty too? Would you also consider r/worstof a downvote brigade? They seem to be well accepted, even though they're pretty much the same as r/srs minus the focus on posts that have been upvoted.
/r/MensRights29/09/11 10:08 PM
1

Us cracking jokes is the same as you completely taking over the thread?
/r/MensRights29/09/11 10:05 PM
2

So what are you trying to argue? My entire point is that this post was an intentional downvote brigade. Something r/srs has never done!
/r/MensRights29/09/11 10:03 PM
2

We're snarking at the fact that this minor issue is the one and only thing to get this much of an insane reaction out of you guys. I've never seen anything like it.
/r/MensRights29/09/11 09:57 PM
2

I do not normally endorse downvote brigades But you did endorse this one, no?
/r/MensRights29/09/11 09:29 PM
2

Yeah, snark is kinda our thing! Did it really take you that long to notice?
/r/MensRights29/09/11 09:28 PM
2

I see a small handful of joke posts from us. None of them are anywhere near the top of the thread. r/mr posters haven't been all downvoted into oblivion. Doesn't look anything like the r/srs thread you guys completely tore apart.
/r/MensRights29/09/11 04:17 AM
7

And what would that medicine be? According to the post you were replying to, a downvote brigade. But I guess it's okay since we, somehow, started it even though we never once called for a downvote brigade or harbored such intentions?
/r/MensRights29/09/11 04:13 AM
0

Nice try, but both you and the submitter said you intended this to be a downvote brigade.
/r/MensRights29/09/11 02:03 AM

Oh god, not the downvotes! What an awful conspiracy!
/r/MensRights29/09/11 12:21 AM

You guys outright admitted this post was calling for a downvote brigade. We've never had such intentions.
/r/MensRights29/09/11 12:20 AM

Name a single thread r/srs has bombed like this. At worst you see one guy we called out getting a dozen downvotes, here you guys fucking stormed the entire topic to plant a giant r/mr flag. Do you really think that's what we do?
/r/MensRights28/09/11 09:49 PM
-1

Screenshots-only was proposed a while back, but shot down because people would rather see the entire thread and all of its replies. There's not really anything we can do to stop people from downvoting, and I don't know what more you expect from us! There's nothing disingenuous about it, but apparently no matter what anyone says or does you'll just continue to believe otherwise. :/

It strikes me as rather bizarre that a little cosmetic surgery is the one and only issue that gets you guys in this much of a furor. I mean come on just look at all that bold text. Chillax brah.
/r/MensRights28/09/11 09:20 PM
2

It strikes me as rather bizarre that a little cosmetic surgery is the one and only issue that gets you guys in this much of a furor. And it's incredibly comical to hear you guys calling us a downvote brigade when here you are openly admitting to doing so yourself.
/r/MensRights28/09/11 07:36 PM

r/srs is a dedicated subreddit for highlighting and shaming reprehensible posts. Some people may downvote even though we tell them not to, but there's nothing we can do to stop that. You guys on the other hand... I'm not sure how you can excuse submissions like these as anything but a call to storm our thread. Intent is everything.
/r/MensRights28/09/11 12:53 PM

So, which subreddit is the downvote brigade again?
/r/MensRights28/09/11 04:53 AM

Nor do I complicate things by examining in minute detail the genetic dispositions of 1% of population that do not conform to the typical XY=male and XX=female paradigm. But you are examining and classifying them by trying to tell them whether or not they're a "real" man/woman. This 1% is the entire issue at hand, you can't sweep it under the rug and say you don't want to look at exceptions.

Allow me to drop biology 102 on you: Genotype and phenotype don't always match, and the rare exceptions like these are exactly where transgenders come from.
/r/MensRights13/09/11 04:54 PM

Woman who are born with the wrong genitals through an accident of birth are NOT MEN. Deal widdit. People don't just get sex changes because they feel like it. Transgender individuals are born with a incongruity between how their brain is wired and how their body developed. There are neurological differences between the sexes, and studies have found time and time again that the brains of transgendered people match the gender they identify as.
/r/MensRights13/09/11 03:21 AM

Because women who cannot bear children and women who have chromosomal issues are STILL WOMEN. And transgender women are STILL WOMEN. You're not the arbiter of who is and isn't a woman.

But gender != sex. The two words may be related, but they are not synonymous. One's gender does not always match their sex, as other factors, whether genetic, hormonal, or environmental, may add up override that. You can cherry-pick just the bits and pieces of a complex definition that you like, but that doesn't make you correct. You'd be pretty hard-pressed to find any scientists who agree with your incredibly narrow view.
/r/MensRights29/08/11 03:41 PM

So you don't know what the word "vary" means, I take it. It means that gender means quite a lot of things besides just sex. There are a lot of other factors in there. So your statement that the two are one and the same is false.
/r/MensRights29/08/11 03:17 PM

Does the word "vary" not mean anything to you? Gender means quite a lot more than just sex, so no, you cannot just say "gender = sex".

Look at the very first paragraph of the page you cited: Gender is a range of characteristics distinguishing between male and female, particularly in the cases of men and women and the masculine and feminine attributes assigned to them. Depending on the context, the discriminating characteristics vary from sex to social role to gender identity. Sexologist John Money introduced the terminological distinction between biological sex and gender as a role in 1955. That doesn't seem to support your poi…

If you literally want to be something that you are not, that' is a mental illness. A white person who wants to be black, has a mental illness. Same thing. Why do you want to be something that you are not, that you can never be? How is that healthy? How do you suppose which sex they are and aren't, when someone's mixed up hormone balance has given them a female body and male brain, or vice versa?
