1	Boys falling behind in schools What's intriguing to me is that back in the 1980s and 1990s, there was a lot of evidence that teachers favored boys: boys were called upon more often, got more attention in the classroom, and their ideas were praised more frequently. Girls were praised more for neatness. The ratio of male teachers to female teachers is roughly the same now as it was then.
