You didn't say how long you were married but I'm guessing a long while. Just keep in mind what you want to see happen after the conversation.

You're welcome friend. Just remember to ask yourself what do you really want? What direction you want to go? What do you need to do to get there.

Counseling helps and anyone who asks my opinion on the subject will get that answer from me. But I also know the person you are with will have to meet you half way too. If your partner goes to therapy and does everything right during the session but then goes back as soon as she walks out the door, then no amount of therapy will help her. She must be willing to change. My ex would go through motions of therapy just to get me where she wants me to be and then she would go back to her old ways. So…

Don't look at divorce as a bad thing. I am divorced myself and I was marred for 25 years. It's better to find out now that you're not compatible then spending years trying jam a square peg into a round hole. It won't fit and forcing it will just cause problems. You're not the first and not the last. We all worry about what people say and we imagine the invisible audience that is always watching us in our heads. Trust me, people don't care. But now you have an idea what you're looking for in you'…

Sorry you are going through all of this. I am in Texas and went through a divorce as well about three years ago. You are right, there isn't alimony in Texas but.. there is spousal maintenance tho. But she will have to prove that she cannot be employed, no education or if she was a homemaker all throughout the marriage. It's an up hill battle for her to prove that tho. But seeing that there's a police report for assault will help on this if maintenance comes into light. Get as much documentations…

First off, I want to give you props for coming on here and asking for advice. It's not easy. I am not going to say what has already been said but you have to ask yourself how much more of this can you handle, mentally? Everyone has a breaking point and the lady you are with have seemed to hit hers a while ago. You saved $30k for a reason right?? Go with your gut feeling. I am not going to tell you what to do or not to do. That's entirely up to you but you can't really ignore all the signs that s…

It does happen. Take good care of yourself. Your body and mind will thank you.

I agree with everyone here. As someone who is in the same shoes as you, it won't be easy and there will be days where it will be difficult to get up in the mornings. Time will heal all wounds my friend. It will get better with each passing day. Therapist is a great idea but if you are like me, I can't really afford one so here are somethings you can do to help yourself get to the path of recovery: Get plenty of rest, sleep. Helps keep your brain in check. Care for yourself, be sure to eat. We so…

Diffidently not a good situation. I've been there myself and I felt like I couldn't go on further with the relationship. Especially one that is one sided. But do have a plan of action on whatever you decided. Kids are smart and as they get older, they get wiser and see things how they really are. My other half made some terrible choices that landed her in many legal problems. Fortunately I was not involved in any of them. Whether you choose to stay or not, you need to figure out what is your end…

What I've learned is that you can't change the person. They have to change the dynamics that are set in themselves, and I can't fix it for them. At the end of the day, it all comes down to what you are okay with and your not okay with. People will have opinions on what you should do or not do. Do what you think it's best. Sometimes it may take a life time to figure it out and that's ok.

Unfortunately, it does not get better. In these type of situations, the big hump is getting the bipolar person to admit they have a problem and get help and them sticking to it. But that is if you're planning to stick around tho. Just be prepared for the ups and downs this is going to cause by her moods. Her moods will affect you. Don't let it. Remember, observe but don't absorb meaning, don't let emotions get the best of you. Pretend you got a clipboard and a lab coat and just observe. Don't ge…

I don't have much as far advice goes, only what I've gone through. There could be some co-dependency going on here. Could there be a chance that your spouse is bipolar? I'm not a specialist in any field mind you. I've been in a marriage where I was exposed to mental abuse, not physical. My spouse cheated, time and time again. I just kept on telling myself, be there for the kids, they need you. There have been arguments every time I figured out what my spouse was cheating on me. It got to the poi…
