That's true in the States as well, to a certain degree. Slavery being the classic example. Private arbitration has been in the courts and is an ongoing issue, AFAIK. There was the big case with the woman who was raped in Iraq and then locked in a shipping container.

I am legitimately confused by C. I can see rapists thinking somebody who is drunk being an easy target. How in the world does alcohol make them think that? Wouldn't they think that from the get go? I may be thinking about this too much.

That sounds pretty reasonable. I think a key distinction was that this was middle school, not high school. The girl was ~12 and afraid to hold the gun (I do not know how/why she unloaded it). The principal was on an extended medical leave and the vice principal was trying to look "tough". The list of "banned" items was ridiculous. I believe the gun was "hidden" somewhere in the restroom. I never heard where exactly it was. Oh, key part I left out was that the recipient was a girl. The asshole was giving her a hug and he slipped it into her jeans. I remember when she was allowed by the next school year asking somebody "what should I have done?" Nobody had an answer. There was a zero tolerance policy for possession of a firearm, and by involuntarily receiving one, she was considered just as guilty as the guy who brought it.…

This shit has been going on for a long time. Eons ago, when I was in middle school some idiot brought a 22 pistol and gave it to somebody else. The recipient, pretty freaked out, but with some sense, unloaded it, and left it in a spot in a restroom, then went off to tell the school officials. What did they reward this good samaritan with? Expulsion.

It might surprise this author that people can spend time "studying in college, getting a job, and contributing to society through the workforce and family" while still spending their leisure time as they please. The minute you fire up a PC or click on the PS3/XBox it does not undermine other accomplishments. Maybe a real man should just get drunk and be like Don Draper. /s

I had nearly the same thought. I knew an anti-video game crusader who spent many hours playing The Sims. I have trouble with that level of mental disconnect.

A woman can be in a park where children are playing and take photos. I cannot do this without provoking a response. Street photography in general is inherently easier as a woman.
