If it helps just remember the age old joke. For every stunning woman you come across, there is a man somewhere who is fed up with her shit.

Does anybody recall a discussion here that either altered or changed their mind from what it was going in? Surely there has to be at least a few.

Just a speculation here, but one that I think has some teeth to it. The very fact that “party girl” type behaviour was once (and often for a decent stretch of time) appealing to her means that there was something about that lifestyle that at least partially appealed to her. Obviously, as time goes on, one’s goals will change to whatever degree, but the fact remains that whichever part of her that lifestyle appealed to has not actually gone anywhere in all likelihood. Which becomes a potential co…

The ratios of transgender women to transgender men alone flies in the face of this idea. Not expressing a position on it one way or the other, but those numbers are extremely skewed one way.

Not saying it doesn’t also apply to men (I’ll be fair), but way too many “everyday women” can’t stay within and respect the boundaries of an intimate relationship as it is. Why in the hell would any man with any sense consider a relationship with someone who professionally fakes intimacy with many men? Yes, date a sex worker. I’m sure that’s likely to be a good idea in the long run.

Where does everyone’s personal line on anything infidelity related lie? I’m guessing the vast majority will say that straight up cheating would be a major problem, but are there common adjacent behaviours which fall short of outright cheating that would be dealbreakers in a similar way?

I have certainly noticed a disproportionate number of big chicks with skinny guys (if they can swing it, of course) over my lifetime. Most of the time I’ve come across it, it’s almost perfectly inverted. The bigger she is, the skinnier the guy.

Even better if they didn’t freeze their sperm. Careful what you wish for.

If only men would take this suggestion up in significant numbers. I suspect women would not like the outcomes of this suggestion if it were widely adopted.

Actually largely agree here. Exceptions for extremely driven people with a large dash of luck? Sure. But it seems to me that entrepreneurship has become something of a new religion in certain circles, and most seem to be blissfully unaware of the massively unlikely statistical reality that they are shooting for. Just like many other things in life, these people often simply think they are the exception to the rule, ignorant of the fact that all of their competition thinks the same thing. In addi…

This response is attention grabbing. Generally speaking, women are the ones who end relationships and in the context of a marriage, they also tend to get the better end of the stick when it comes to division of assets. This talk of back ups also immediately brings to mind various surveys which seem to indicate a staggering number of women in relationships openly admit to keeping “back up options” close to hand.

Oh of course, nobody is suggesting otherwise. I think you might be taking the phrase “endless options” a little too literally here. Perhaps a more accurate way to put it will be that the average woman will always be spoiled by a far larger degree of choice with regard to dating options than the average man. And by orders of magnitude. It isn’t even close. This is not meant as some kind of put down on women either. It is simply the reality we all exist in. Yes, women have more crap to filter thro…

To be anything even close to an average woman in this technological day in age who cannot find a single suitable man who arouses her is at least partially indicative of the likely possibility that she is shooting far too high and overvaluing herself.

Little to disagree with here, though a minor addendum. Definitely there is some truth to women broadly sacrificing looks for other factors (provisioning, starting a family, etc) more than men. However, I would argue an additional wrinkle to this broad fact is that many women THINK they are settling for someone who is at their “level” when they often are not. Sometimes even when the man is slightly “above” her. Women broadly are extremely susceptible to valuing themselves higher than they are. A …

Yep definitely can’t see that causing problems for anyone.

Quickest and simplest explanation which I think covers the broadest set of people is this. Initially, a couple is sexually excited by their partner. Over time though, via repeated exposure and familiarity this sense of lust gives way to a sense of comfort. But the sex drive hasn’t gone anywhere. It’s still present, just the husband no longer has that effect on her (to be fair I’m sure it works in reverse too, but this phenomenon seems especially prevalent with women). If that was where it stoppe…

Are you really going to try and tell me people (and women especially) are not often emotionally moved by weddings? I’m actually a little stunned I was asked for the clarification. And wedding itself aside, the fact that it’s a social occasion with other people (especially people presumably known to the couple) doesn’t necessarily reflect the actual reality of anyones relationship. Most people go out of their way to highlight the positives of their relationship and simultaneously conceal the more…

Look, I get what you’re trying to say here, but let’s be honest. It’s not like there aren’t guys (admittedly a minority) who will pump and dump whether someone is “relationship material” or not. Let’s not pretend that also doesn’t happen.

Not gonna deny anything you’re saying here (I obviously don’t know these people, nor can this be verified in any way), but I will point out that this was in the context of a wedding. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to say this context might have something to do with your observations here.

I’ll meet you halfway here. Obviously only an idiot would say that all women will do that. However, I would also say men would do well to know that all women could do something like that, and generally speaking, they will have far more opportunities to do so than men will. So it is worth keeping in mind. But yes, absolutely there are many guys who take this line of thinking to a stupid extreme.

Always found it funny that generally, women tend to recoil in disbelief when men describe common shitty female behaviours, only to immediately recognise the exact same things when a situation like say, their frenemy starts showing interest in and trying to flirt with her man. All of a sudden, these same women often waste no time in carpet bombing the room with accusations of “she’s a manipulative bitch”, and “omg what a slut” to anyone within earshot. Almost like it’s completely fictitious and i…

Whilst you are technically correct there, let’s not pretend that there is zero correlation between those who emphasise their sexuality and certain predictable behaviours.

So the party primarily in control of selection bears no responsibility for choosing “a shitty partner”? Don’t get me wrong, if someone is shitty, they are shitty. Not arguing that. What bugs me about that response is this seemingly ever present “maximum freedom, zero responsibility” position that many women seem to tacitly hold for their own choices.

Almost by definition, one cannot “know” how often men and women cheat. Unless infidelity is caught or otherwise revealed, one has no way to know this. However, flawed as they are, even studies based upon self reporting have consistently shown a recent more marked uptick in female infidelity over the past few decades. To the point where even feminist leaning publications have run countless pieces over the years about how women are cheating just as much as men now. Though I would also concede that…

I will agree with this. However, the part that often gets brushed aside here is that the person in a relationship who is receptive to such an advance bears FAR more culpability than the person approaching (assuming they are single). The single person made no such commitment to another person, unlike the receptive party already in a relationship.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
