Though there are clear confounding factors at play here (for example, generally speaking men have far more to lose in a divorce than women), this strikes me as backwards. Obviously there will be people where this works in reverse, I’m not denying it. Having said that, generally speaking it is women who both push for marriage and subsequently hit the eject button. I would contend that in broad statistical terms, you are asking this question of the wrong gender.

I am by no means saying that there is nothing to what you are saying. But, at risk of sounding snarky, imagine my surprise that someone with the tagline of “high value kween” is arguing from a position of someone else paying for her personal choices. Shocker. EDIT : as for PTO (I’m assuming this means personal time off, correct? By all means correct me if I am mistaken) You are making my point for me. This is something that every employee (at least in theory) has equal access to and is applied a…

Two things here. One, the retirement/401k argument is different because everyone is in the same boat (at least in this country, not sure of how this applies elsewhere). Parental leave paid for by the employer is something that by definition, not everyone benefits from across the board. A better analogy here would be a smoker being awarded extra smoke breaks over non smokers (personal choice). As for retaining high level employees, though I’m not going to be stupid and say there is no doubt SOME …

Haha more than fair. Carry on!
/r/PurplePillDebate12/01/22 11:46 PM

I would contend that is not the same thing. Everybody contributes to the government coffers for particular services, and so forth. Many of which, some of us may never utilise. But this is leading down a completely separate road to the notion of employers paying for a persons personal choices. Those two things are not the same.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/01/22 11:28 PM

That may be so. But expecting other people to incur the cost for your personal choices is ethically questionable.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/01/22 11:15 PM

Having children is a lifestyle choice. Nobody HAS to do it. Perhaps you don’t like my choice of the word “charity” there (and to be fair, my choice of wording was probably admittedly cynical), but the fact remains that they are benefits which you expect that someone else is paying for. Not trying to say people shouldn’t have kids (though I personally hold my own opinions there). What I am saying is that if one needs to rely on these external benefits not coming from one’s own (or one’s own famil…

With absolutely zero knowledge as to my income, or my level of taxation. Solid counter.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/01/22 11:07 PM

Fair point. Admittedly, the prior post was more “first thought that occurred to me reading this”, as opposed to any seriously thought out point to make. Largely think I would stand behind it though.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/01/22 11:06 PM

Hate to be that guy, but my first thought reading this is “if you have to depend on charity at the cost of others to afford or be able to raise children, you probably shouldn’t be having them in the first place”.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/01/22 09:33 PM

That is a fair point, and something each individual needs to seriously consider and weigh up for themselves. Granted, the calculus may be a little easier on my end to make, given that I would hands down remain comfortable alone rather than roll those (to my eyes) loaded dice. No question. But, I will concede the assessment becomes MUCH more difficult even for one who completely agrees with my prior comment, yet still honestly desires a partner/relationship/whatever. Not gonna pretend that become…

I will at least give her a degree of credit for both self awareness and honesty with regard to what she was talking about. It ain’t common - especially not from one who fits that mold.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/01/22 07:48 PM

I suspect many of us can easily relate to this.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/01/22 07:46 PM

I see your point, but an obvious problem is hiding in plain sight here. There is no “right” person that you can know ahead of time. Granted, there are precautions one can take to minimise risk, but often you simply don’t find out until it is too late. People always put (or at least try and appear to) their best foot forward initially. We all recognise the “honeymoon period” phenomenon. You will only see the most positive picture of a potential partner initially if they are interested. They have …

Always disagreed with that well known adage of “better to have loved and lost, then never to have loved at all”. Obviously one could argue it both ways depending on circumstance, but I would contend that the majority of people on the receiving end of unwelcome divorce would ABSOLUTELY disagree with that. Even after a significant passage of time, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to assume the majority would still honestly wish they hadn’t been in that situation at all.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/01/22 07:24 PM

Again, if that’s the case, great. You do you. But two things here. I have noticed that often one cannot discuss broader trends applied to many many people across society, without a woman beginning to relate it all to themselves and how “they are an exception/are different/doesn’t apply to me”. We aren’t talking about you specifically - we are talking about the population in general. And again, thrilled to hear you haven’t been on the receiving end of abuse - that is nothing but a good thing to h…
/r/PurplePillDebate12/01/22 03:22 AM

What about this discussion has to do with you specifically? I don’t know you. This has all been within the context of broadly generalised and applicable observation. Though, given you brought it up - again, I don’t know you, so if that’s accurate, brilliant. You do you. Though I will also say that is another thing that women broadly seem fond of publicly claiming.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/01/22 03:11 AM

Right. I am certainly not about to deny there is some truth to that. And obviously almost all of us don’t wish that crap on anyone. But notice how your response once again goes out of its way to not acknowledge that many women have an active hand (sometimes a very large hand too) in the situations they complain about. You know, the overarching point of what I am saying? Sometimes the ability of women to shirk their responsibilities for their part in the sex and relationships dance still never ce…
/r/PurplePillDebate12/01/22 03:04 AM

I’m not sure whether there is genuine confusion here, or if you are deliberately choosing not to see the point being made. In short, no legal sex or relationship happens at all without BOTH parties having an active hand in it happening. In addition, it is far too commonly observed among men that behaving in a manner which women publicly claim they want most often gets FAR inferior results to more direct “asshole adjacent” behaviour. Which I don’t think is good. BUT, re: the overarching point, wh…
/r/PurplePillDebate12/01/22 02:51 AM

Did I not begin that comment with a rather direct, overt and unqualified throat clearing re: men and their responsibilities in this space? One which I happen to notice seldom happens from women that plainly stated. At what point did I say they deserve it because they don’t want the same things men do? The point I was making was this seemingly ubiquitous phenomenon of women acting like they themselves have no active hand in this social dance, and that stuff just “happens to them” with no will or …
/r/PurplePillDebate12/01/22 02:16 AM

“”If she doesn’t fuck me then she’s trash” then that’s being called a predator towards the women you date”. Two things here. Whilst I will concede it may not be the most noble behaviour from the mans side in this example (though I would also say it does tend to be rather effective), that is not equate to being a predator. Also, you women have agency yourselves. Stuff doesn’t just happen to you with zero agency or input of your own. If you fuck a guy like that, you made the decision to do so for …

I’m not saying for a second that men as a demographic don’t have more than their fair share of awful behaviours and shortcomings. Having said that, perhaps at least some of the onus can generally be laid at the feet of the same women complaining when they themselves often (note I did not say “always” or “all”) either have, or continue to, reward shitty behaviour with positive sexual attention. Any guy who has altered his views on this space with time and experience will tell you exactly how litt…
/r/PurplePillDebate12/01/22 01:35 AM

Are you kidding me? Your entire rationale for chiming in on the “women initiate a disproportionate percentage of divorces” was to say anecdotally that this alone doesn’t mean anything, because maybe the husband cheated and the wife just happened to file the paperwork. Your entire reason for this discussion here was predicated on this idea.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/01/22 08:32 PM

First point, if I haven’t made it clear that a refutation that works both ways with both genders is useless to drawing any broader conclusions (in the absence of solid data to support it), then I don’t think we will agree here. Im not saying that there is no truth to what you’re saying, but obviously it works the other way with men filing because their wife cheated on them. So again, unless data is presented to make me think otherwise, this argument runs both ways and most likely in similar numb…
/r/PurplePillDebate10/01/22 07:12 PM

You’re acting as though an anecdotal observation (which I never denied will happen in such a way) somehow constitutes any kind of counter to the statistical observation that women DO in fact instigate a disproportionate amount of divorce. I was simply pointing out that this one observation has little value broadly, because that example can just as easily run the other way. Therefore to cling to this “but the person who files isn’t necessarily the one to end the relationship” is at best a naive a…
/r/PurplePillDebate10/01/22 06:55 PM

Right. I’ve seen this canard come up multiple times from the female side of the fence, and it is utterly useless in terms of clarifying the issue. Though we could debate the minutiae, of course a wife COULD file for divorce as a result of her husband cheating. The same can also happen in reverse. So this point which constantly comes up is utterly useless in clarifying the issue, as the point being argued (and I would also contend, largely overstated) runs in both directions - meaning that unless…

Who is initiating the divorces on aggregate? In addition, read any female centric publication involving either advice seeking or confessions and tell me how many times the word “bored” (or any variation thereof) pops up.
