I don’t think 2-3 years is a good timeframe in which to fall for someone because on the surface it would seem disingenuous to be only a friend for that amount of time only to then admit feelings. It could work, and has worked before but it really depends on how attached you are to the outcome when you actually do feel for them. On the other hand there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with it if it’s actually organic, though I could know pretty quickly into a friendship (talking months not years…

Depends on how you value the activities. Some people don’t think the things they enjoy are productive and would rather not do them. Others gain fulfillment from these same activities. The article mentions social media and videogames and I think they are good examples because to me, they do seem like short term pleasure/interest over long term gains in other aspects of life, some of which could be more meaningful as they apply to broader utility. Oppurtunity cost, after all.
