The patriarchy?Quibble. Unlike op, I'm pro capitalist (but liberal - i guess a neoliberal, but I use that word differentlythan far left people do). But I'm very concerned about the earth and the climate. And I live in an urban area. Urban areas are not bad for the earth. (How simple a life one can lead in an urban area is another question) | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/04/23 03:55 PM
Do you believe a single woman in her 30’s and above is a Red Flag? No. Lots of different life paths. | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/04/23 03:52 PM
What’s keeping me from asking for a divorce?2 caveats to that. 1. If the relationship of spouse to kids is toxic, the kids may be better off with an earlier divorce - or with serious pressure on the spouse to change. 2. Hobbies and interests. If things are bad at home, there is a significant chance something (often something insanely complicated) will develop with someone you meet through a hobby/interest. On both I speak from experience (but note I am still married, and still contemplating). | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/05/22 11:26 PM
What’s keeping me from asking for a divorce? It's a hard decision to make, a huge decision. I suggest therapy. Edit. : I see you are in therapy , and the couples therapy doesn't seem to be working. I wonder what your individual therapist thinks. I mean I guess waiting till the kids are legal adults will save $ and heartache. But that can be a lot of years of hellish existence. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/05/22 11:22 PM
How many here divorced (or considering) at their own initiative, not because her affair. She drags her heels on doing the things needed to save the marriage, but she has not expressed hatred etc. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/03/22 03:29 PM
How many here divorced (or considering) at their own initiative, not because her affair.I wasn't asking so much about staying friends (we may or may not) but just the general place people are coming from. Our child is a legal adult. No custody issue. Assuming it comes to that. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/03/22 03:28 PM
How many here divorced (or considering) at their own initiative, not because her affair.I guess I was asking more about general tone, etc than the specific issue of being friends with an ex. But since that's come up, my wife has said she wants to remain friends in the event we do split, and I am on board with that. Obviously that doesn't mean it would work in practice, and if a future partner of either of us was uncomfortable with it, that would be an issue. We do have a grown child and being civil at future life events would be the minimum, I think. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/03/22 12:53 PM
Went in first date so se my break up 2 months agoMay I dm? To share some more details? | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/03/22 01:06 AM
Went in first date so se my break up 2 months agoThat's fair, everyone is different. For me personally I do not want more children, and am wary of remarriage. I guess on a practical level I wonder if the preference of men my age for women more than 10 years younger would make dating easier for me, given my preference for women at least a little older than that? | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/03/22 03:36 PM
Went in first date so se my break up 2 months agoAs a 62 yo contemplating divorce, I find the age discussion here interesting. I know a few 50 something women whom I find very attractive. Who are past the little kids stage. Who seem mature and sane. I almost can't imagine dating someone under 50 - seriously, at any rate. Am I naive? Are most guys over 50 looking for women at least 15 years younger? | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/03/22 07:55 PM
