This is true. I was friends with my late boyfriend for a few years. I asked him why he didn’t approach me about his feelings. He said he wanted to be respectful as a friend. He was all about cultivating and maintaining friendships. All of his friendships were decades old. I thought that was an excellent quality in a person.

I’ve had a similar experience. Like yourself a diagnosis changes a lot. I am at the point of rebuilding my life. The stuff that was bothering me before could have been dealt with a lot better if I had been feeling better and put myself first. I really love what you said about being a hero to yourself. That’s invaluable advice.
