It just seems like all rational discourse stops the minute people hear a man hit a woman. This is true, but it's not just women who always take the side of the woman, there are men who do that as well. The important thing is to discern the assholes who do that from the decent people who don't. There exist women who would hear that a man hit a woman, and then want to hear the details before passing judgement; they may be hard to find sometimes, but they most certainly exist.
