A totally reasonable question. Yeah gay men, were repressed and had to keep their identities super-underground. But gay men, are still men. The repression of women was probably a little more overt, and it wasn't just sexual, but social and economic - enshrined in law even. This surely played a part in womens' path to slutdom. Or rather lack thereof. And as much as many deny it, we still have a ways to go on the whole repression thing. And even if we go back to gay men. Their slut journey journey…

Yep, the post frames sex as a reward or incentive, but not just for males. The whole post is just using economic as an model for discussions sake. Of course, just like real economics, it's not a perfect illustration of real life. Sex can be a form of communication, of self-expression; a tool for power or bonding; a weapon or bargaining chip. As for the second point..so much yes. And urrrgh.

True, a lot of men during the 1960s-1970s thought the sexual revolution would bring them fantasies come true and that didn't happen for most. The problem was more about the unrealistic nature of the fantasy. Plus AIDS put a downer on the whole thing. Your point on women being able to share is less clear. Can't men share too? Great point about being gay too. Because they're all one gender, all gender politic is removed and a truer equilibrium is attained. That's the goal for everyone surely.
