| 1 | NiceeeeeYou do the thing everyone else does and don't live in Manhattan. Either live in an outer burrow or live in *shudder* Jersey. Though NJ teacher salaries are above average too, so the commute might not be worth the 10k average salary bump. I also said *decent* not highly paid. The median household income in NYC is like 57k, which is about the starting salary for a teacher in the city.
