It's all about perspective. For some men hooking up is easy. For others it is impossible. For some it is even terrifying. Still others have no interest in it. All of these perspectives are true in an objective sense. They are real. They are probably correct that hooking up is easy for you because of your physical appearance, which has compounded a confident personality used to relatively easy success over time. This can be difficult for them to appreciate. You did put in the work to learn the sk…

If she has had one night stands or FWB at all? Of course, why not? I've done those things. When it comes to building a relationship, it matters a lot more whether she is continuing that behavior while also claiming to look for something serious. Then she is just trying to have her cake and eat it too. Context matters. Sex is great and doing it casually is fun. There is no reason to hold having had sex casually against someone. There are other contextual factors that matter a lot more.

And good on her for communicating and allowing space for the change in behavior. So many people would just cut and run. Just a couple of really good people having fun together.

You aren't a bad boy, you are coming to the realization that women are people too and often suck just as much as men. They just suck in different ways because women are socially and emotionally different, and society holds them to different expectations. The rules of the social game they play are different. Indeed women aren't all that great. They are no better than men are. Society puts them on a pedestal; Maturing is getting rid of that mental frame. The problem with the PUA route you have tak…

You can't convince them that they are worthy. They have to stop caring whether or not they are. That just takes time and life experience. Relationships are messy, complicated, and mostly based on luck. A huge number of people will simply never find their person. If our options are to learn to live a mostly fulfilling life despite that or to wallow in depression and self-hatred, then the answer is pretty obvious. Everyone has to figure out what that looks like for them individually.

You move on. You don't have to put up with that shit. Unfortunately, that's just how dating apps are. I noticed it got better as I got older. Not entirely, but better. There are several reasons it happens. You are one of a handful of people that she chose to respond to among the probably hundreds vying for her attention. The gender ratio of men to women on apps is truly crazy. You are just words on a screen to her. Of the few women that are on the apps, lots of them are only interested in using …

I had a similar thing, but she would invite me out, get black-out drunk, mack on some other guy all night when I wasn't looking, then try to swing a threesome without saying a damn word to me. Some girls are just hard in their hoe phase and need to just learn to be better or burn out on their own.

She only cares about you insofar as you give her attention and emotional validation. She is already doing to you what you are afraid of doing to her. She doesn't seem to be interested in meeting any other needs you have. She doesn't want to be your girlfriend, but she wants you to treat her like a girlfriend completely without physical intimacy. She doesn't care about making you happy. This relationship suddenly became very one way and you know it. Further, she isn't your fwb. She is your crush.…

Its almost like evospych is mostly nonsense! There's at least two people in this thread who may or may not be race realists.

While the tendency to be attracted to taller men can be understood through the lens of biology or evopsych, the acceptability of its expression is absolutely cultural. It's like a 1:1 comparison with men and fatter women. I would never argue that nature plays no role, but culture absolutely plays a significant role. Edit: This is also changing the subject. I think biology plays a very small role in a woman's loss of attraction to a man for his emotional displays.

Of course, context is important. None of what I said applies if all you are looking for is a one night stand, for example.

Any woman who would think less of you for crying isn't worth being with. Sure, a lot of women do it, but that doesn't make that tendency any less shitty. Feeling the need to mask your own humanity just to be in a relationship with a woman is profoundly desperate behavior. Being comfortable with loneliness is a whole lot stronger. In your head, women should be competing against your own internal peace. If they don't make your life better, then why would you want them in it? Also, here's my hot ta…

I think this is a mix of good and bad takes. Autism diagnoses are very real, and the condition does make life often much harder for people with ASD. However, that difficulty stems less from the disorder itself and more from the fact that the world and society is not constructed for autistic brains. I hard disagree with the idea that it essentially isn't real, as you posit. There are demonstrable differences between autistic and non-autistic brains at the neurological level. Plus, you don't know …

Oh buddy. I feel you. I have absolutely been there with a French girl. Just take things for what they are as they are. Maybe she is looking for a travel fling, maybe not. Just ask her out. Show her around. Have a good time. If something longer term comes of it, great, if not then you need to be ready to let go when she leaves. That's a conversation you will eventually need to have, but be careful not to take it personally. It isn't about you. Falling for someone who lives on a different continen…

I just turned 30 and still live with my mom. It has been a necessity to finish grad school and start my career. I have an incredibly difficult time meeting and dating women, but living with my mom is not the crux of that difficulty. I have a space to myself that doesn't require going through the rest of the house, so the few hookups I have had have been as if I lived alone mostly. The one woman I met who really was interested in me ended things not because I live with my mom but because we have …

This is not a seddit comment. Nothing I say here will tell you how to pull women from the aether. What I am talking about here is self-respect and internal fortitude. I am a lurker here and I deeply sympathize with your frustration. I have been where you are at around the same age. I have gone through periods of "success" but they were very infrequent. I am 28 now and there are literally no women in my life that I feel any attraction to. It is all just memories, but the future is still ahead. I …

I've bounced around a few different hobbies. I played a ton of D&D and tabletop wargames in high school. After that I did a Rocky Horror shadow cast for a while, then I got into HEMA/WMA, more recently I have been into learning languages. The first language I learned took me a few years to get to a point where I consider myself competent, but the second I picked up really really quick. Of course, Italian and French are pretty close so it wasn't hard to transition. I am considering giving Ukraini…

I don't think there is anything wrong with giving up on the idea of dating for sex. If that is your primary motivation for dating, then you probably aren't approaching it with a healthy attitude anyway. I won't tell you that you shouldn't buy a sex doll. Get your rocks off in a way that you like most. You should do what makes you happy, but don't fool yourself into thinking that it will actually replace a companion in your life. Sex and companionship are two different things. Personally I recomm…

I have never felt insecure about my height, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I have been rejected at least twice because I am under 6'. I know because one of them I am still friends with and boy does she have a type that I do not fit into. That's a her problem, not a me problem.

From what I have read on the sub in the last few years this is all really canned advice, BUT this is a stellar distillation of it all for this particular situation. And I have also been needing to hear this for the last few weeks.

Take a deep breath, and calm yourself. If the first thought in your mind is over whether or not she likes you, you will forget to have fun. Never go into an encounter with women like this with any expectations. Just focus on having fun and allowing her to enjoy herself and you yourself. You are just hanging out, not planning the rest of your life. Take the moment for what it is and nothing more so that you can have fun! Fun should always be the priority in the earliest stages of courtship.

It's less about dependence than scarcity. If you are operating in an environment with a lot of mutually interested potential partners (read: abundant) then they individual have very little value. However if mutually interested potential partner are very scarce then they will have very high individual value. It is psychological supply and demand principles that affect price in economics but applied to sociology.

Introduce your own girlfirends to him. You've talked at length about him unsuccessfully exercising his own agency. Try introducing your friends to him and see how it goes. I've had very little success going out with the express purpose of meeting women, but I have had a shit load of success with being introduced to women. Now that I think of it, all of my substantial relationships have been with friends of friends.

You mention books. I can't recommend you anything on women, because I find much of it to be hyper subjective or a touch too manipulative for my taste, but I can recommend something that has helped me immensely with my own depression. I recently became interested in Stoicism (As it seems to be somewhat of a zeitgeist lately). The basic principle is that you are not upset by something that has happened, but by your estimate of that thing. Thus Stoicism proscribes that you concern yourself only wit…

That's an interesting way of looking at it. I don't think anyone has put it that way to me before. I suppose what will follow will sound like I'm being resistant, but I'm trying to analyze my emotions and motivations. I thank you for taking time out of your day to talk with me. I definitely feel something for her. I don't like to use the word love in a romantic context so prematurely because I think it's over used in general, but I'm definitely enamoured. It isn't entirely about sex, but the att…

I've started smoking weed fairly recently, but it's led to some interesting introspective discoveries. My friend grew a strain that is very psycho-active, and every time I smoke it I become painfully self aware. It's not a healthy state of mind, but I have to realize that it's just the weed. It's made me realize that, while there are things wrong with the way I think, I can work through them so long as I am aware of them. I can be self-critical without being self-depricating. That's how I really…

Lol, what polarizing comments. For real though, I feel like this article speaks directly to me. Everything from the neediness to the mommy issues. This article is really great at describing the root of the problem, but the seems to boil down to two things: Develop your life for yourself, and don't be needy. Do you have any tangible advice for what someone could do to get to that point? Like thought exercises, go get a hobby, study something you love, etc. (Side note, I'm really interested in tho…

Besides fucking better I would also recommend not planning a second night immediately after the first. Wait like a month or so. You can say you don't want anything serious, but humans respond better to actions. Prove that you don't want anything serious. It'll also help build your mystique. The only girl I ever met that I could bang every week if I wanted to was pretty openly like "Yeah, I'm a slut," and was probably getting laid every other day anyway.

I dunno, I tried this a few years back when I was severely depressed. I came out of it with a very nasty bruise on my wrist, and even worse self esteem. I don't think negative reinforcement is a healthy way to go about changing a mentality because it is simply too easy to frame it in your mind the same way you would cutting yourself.
