Shit I Owned: Spent Saturday fixing up the house and doing other things that needed to be done. Didn't peacock about it. Didn't wait to be given a list. Made my own list and did what needed to be done. Shit I Didn't Own: Wife is visiting her mom and is having typical mother/daughter drama. This has bled into needing more comfort test and her giving me shit test. Lost my frame and told her I wasn't her punching bag since she can't stand up to her own mom.

Yep. It isn't so much picking her up as it's the display of strength. That demonstration that you are a man and you have raw power at your disposal. Give her a good hug with your arm around her waist. You don't lean into her, you pull her into you.

That is awesome. Too many people set up an echo chamber that just reinforces their world view.

Don't touch the women. Seriously. It'll be fun at first but you'll end up in a hurricane of drama.

So this is how I'm approaching things with my son. The Dangerous Book for Boys - This book along with a couple of others to give us stuff to do that has purpose. Most of it is pretty straightforward but its a means to an end. We are doing fun stuff together and spending quality time. Plus they do have some basic life skill lessons for him to pick up. Gives him a sense of accomplishment. Boy Scouts of America - He's not old enough yet but this is another one of those books I'll give him so he can…

Been getting my money back into shape for the past two years. It's amazing how much less you worry when you aren't living paycheck to paycheck. While it applies to everyone it applies doubly to TRP. Money makes up for a lot of shortcomings. The stability and mobility it provides is one of your best tools to have. Get your finances straight and your lot in life will improve.

By the time I got done typing my response it looks like the thread had a couple more. Kinda nice to see that from different people the same reoccurring advice came out. Variations of the same theme.

Same shoes right after my divorce. I felt adrift on my days without my son. Here's how I found my footing. Not sure if it'll be applicable for you. Workout. Lift weights, run, judo, etc... It'll help you convert some of that emotional pain into actual pain. Think of it as therapy plus as an investment in the future. Get your finances straight. Make a budget. Plan your purchases. Use your excess free time to live cheaper. Cook and pack your lunches for during the week. Find a coffee shop and do s…

This hits home. Got divorced and started trying to fuck anything I could. Succeeded more than I should've, unfortunately. Now I'm focused on improving myself and looking for the next future wife. I don't want a slut and I'm sure whomever I end up with isn't going to want some man whore with little self control or heaven help me a baby mamma in tow.

I'm a fellow athiest but you better believe I kept myself on friendly terms with a tolerable church in case I needed it. Once a month ain't gonna kill ya. You live in the south as well so I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't already know about how some bigoted assholes will hold it against you. The way I rationalized it to myself is that the sacrifice was worth it if it helped show I had a social network in the community. You have got to be father of the year material. If the judge wo…

Do you trust your lawyer? Do you feel they are competent? Then listen to your lawyer. Seriously, there is a reason they have to go to school. Know what looks awesome to a judge? Stability. Document why you are more stable. Get your own place. Go to church. Dress like a respectable adult. Don't have any petty cop bullshit going on for fighting and drinking. Main thing is focus on selling your home and not on tearing down your ex. What makes you a good parent is the question you should be focusing…

Society says women are incompetent and men are disposable. Feminist say they want to fix both of those problems but their actions have only been around the first part of it. They have done wonders at forcing barriers down to women's success. Not so for barriers for men and definitely not in cases where sexism is in their favor. (Custody laws being the easiest example. NOW arguing against joint custody being the starting point instead of the current female bias.) Words are cheap, actions matter. …
