Absolutely. In my case, I’d ask her to at bare minimum speak to me as if I were a co-worker. so many interactions ended in irrational anger that made no sense. A typical scenario involves cleaning, we’d both be doing weekend chores together, I’d ask for help with something and the response was frequently a snippy “can’t you see I’m doing something!?!” Well yes, I didn’t demand that she immediately drop what she was doing, but that didn’t matter. Got to the point where I’d just stop trying and re…

First purchase after she moved out was the eufy omni x robovac. Worth its weight I’m good.

It was always ok for her to say “can’t you see I’m busy!?” if I asked her for help with something. Heaven forbid I should ever even think of that response.

Had a similar experience this morning. I realized I didn’t have to be so delicate about unloading the dishwasher and waking her up.

And make sure to have someone to talk to. Start figuring out access to counseling. Can’t imagine anyone who doesn’t go through depression, anxiety, anger, and thoughts of self-harm. Get on meds if you have to, even if just for a short period of time. It can be a real pain in the ass to find the right people and dealing with healthcare admin is no cakewalk, but it’s worth keeping some energy available to making sure this happens.

Brother - same. Put my ex through grad school. Paid cash for it. Her earning power has doubled and she’s walking away with over 100k in equity and I’m holding on to a refinanced property. Was the designated driver for every single family road-trip, took care of my MIL, paid for her solo vacations around the world and nothing at all to show for it.

She can’t just “remove you”… if either of you wants to stay in the house then you need to buy the other spouse out. Let’s assume you want to stay and she wants to take her money and go. You’d have to agree to a new appraisal. Take that number to a mortgage lender and see if you can refinance the house in your name. You’d refi for the appraisal amount minus 1/2 share of the equity (it doesn’t just disappear). She’d get paid out from the refi. If you both want to stay then that’s going to be conte…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
