There will always be hierarchies on both sides of the political spectrum, but I assume you mean within the family nucleus: parents are equal in that they both work together in their designated roles and those roles should be agreed from the start, so no confusion or resentment builds between them through miscommunication. 1	The bathroom double standard When I was at uni.
