Yeah, it just seems really sketchy. And if she will lie about silly things she will probably lie about important things. I'm not saying give up if you like her and think it's worth it. I'm just saying go into it with your eyes open and your head on a swivel, something is off, so stay alert.

Are you sure she's actually single? The second excuse was pretty bad as excuses go. If it was an actual emergency wouldn't she need to call the friend right away and if not then how could it really be an emergency. It sounds like either she isn't single and she's slotting you in before she has to go see her SO or she is lining up a series of dates for the same night. Anyway, I would go with WeakEmu8's advice.

So you are fortunate, you are seeing the crazy part of the story that if you continue you will call my crazy ex upfront. Pursue someone else. If she asks just tell her you are terribly busy. And move on.

Yeah, you don't get married for your own benefit. It's one of those weird conundrums. Women who have children will make about 30% less money in their lifetime than women without children. Men who get married and have children will make about 30% more money in their lifetime (on average), but won't get to spend any of it. LOL. I've been married for over 30 years and told all of my sons that they absolutely should not get married. So of course two of the three are married. Honestly with the laws t…

" If it was easy, everyone would do it. " I think this one goes right along with, "It's work, if it was fun you would be paying them."

I like the post, I would like to explain one thing I think people get wrong today. “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God." At the time this was written, the eye of a needle was actually the small opening to their huts, so it was actually possible, people did do it if there was a bad enough storm outside, it was just difficult. Sometimes people see this quote and think they are saying it is impossible, but it's just be…

I don't really know. I was unemployed and homeless when I got married. I was living in my car. I had to rent the suit and shoes with my last $20. So I would not say that I attracted a mate by showing off my success. I think if I hadn't had a wife and family I would have worked less, sure. I don't know if I would have been happier or not. It's the path I didn't take.

Yeah I've worked male dominated jobs my whole life and my experience is that when the $hit hits the fan everybody picks up a shovel.

I don't actually know you, so pal might be a bit familiar for me. I guess the real question would be do you think any of the prior civilizations realized their end was near? My guess is most didn't. I really don't know, the only real constant I've seen in my lifetime is change. Nobody thought the Berlin wall would fall, but it did. And here we are many years later repeating the same conflicts, just in different places. Anything is possible. There were a lot of people that got really scared when …

No, I'm saying that my wife's happiness also counts, and I'm willing to put some effort into that.

Yes, I would still work, but I would live in a much smaller house. Yeah, I would probably spend about the same on my truck. I wouldn't spend nearly as much on food, I'm good with fairly bland food. So yes I would still work, but I would work a lot less because my needs are much more simple. Which would leave more time for all those other things you talked about.

Tell that to all the people that were first-time gun buyers this year. The truth is, every civilization has eventually failed. We will be no different and when the $hit hits the fan, money won't buy your way to safety.

" not to mention women's inability to cooperate under pressure " This one is so funny to me. My wife works in a hospital and when they get backed up all the women turn on each other. When she gets home after one of those days it is amazing how much of a hard time they have working together. Then I look back on my time as a linesman when we had really big outages and were just overwhelmed, every man there would put aside their petty crap and pull together. We just all realized the only way to get…

I would agree, although my wife usually makes friends with the people she works with and she is in healthcare. I guess one of the things I would say is most of the time it takes time to develop those "friendships". I'm one of those guys that always seems to just blend in. In most places I've worked after about 6 months everybody treats me like I worked there 10 years. I don't really know why, maybe I just look so average they just figure I was always there, they just never noticed. LOL. But I wo…

I would agree, my sister was a therapist and she used to tell me about the job, not people she talked to, but her general approach and it was pretty much get people to lead themselves to their answers. That can be effective, but I don't know how well it would work with women. I'm more of an ask open questions about them. Get them talking about themselves and reliving good moments from the past kind of guy.

That can be a difficult skill to master. And it is difficult sometimes for people to understand, they get used to reading things into what people tell them.

There was a post, I think it was here the other day that basically said when you say something can't happen or won't happen, prove it. That girl will never go out with me -Prove it. You will never hit a home run from the dugout. You have to put yourself in the game if you want a shot. I think that mindset is far more helpful for every facet of life.
