yeah i think this is a recent thing because the era of "eternal sunshine of the spotless mind" and "scott pilgrim vs. the world" was the height of the white manic pixie dreamgirl

yes, i've been very cautious when dating white men in the past for that reason. i am very protective of my father and my community, and fearing for my father in the US made the concept very more clear. wow, you just taught me something new! i personally believe that decolonization starts with the individual. through educating ourselves about the effects and influences of colonization, we are able to identify what has been pushed upon us, and the goal is, to identify those remnants of our culture…

i'm a very fair skinned latina and benefit from immense privilege, but my father is dark enough to experience colorism in our community, and it's been constant reminder that we have to and must do better. a lot of my afro-latina sisters have shared that they face similar beauty pressures to the ones you described. i hope for a day that we can break past this colonial expectation that "white is right"

net worth typically has to do with total assets - total liabilities. the money may not be liquidated, but it's there

literally like why even bother at that point? just don't date if you're so jaded. no one likes dating a cynic

But why does personal growth usually equal more financial investment? i'm not sure how you're perceiving financial investment here, but personal growth and character development ties to financial responsibility. i was financially independent at 17 with a 401k, and this was while working at starbucks; i'm not dating someone who lacks financially responsibility. women like motivation and perseverance. translation: no scrubs. now, if you want to talk about literal "financial investment," i'm a food…

the incel, or you. or maybe just a misogynist. there's nothing wrong with wanting a partner who desires personal growth and character development just as much as you do, but this rhetoric is just flat out misogynistic. if my significant other ever described me or our relationship like this on the internet, i would run

girl, i don't care how i come across when i'm trying to get my stuff back because i just want it back. i've been in this situation a million times. guys will think that you're just trying to see them, but their ego stroke will self-destruct as soon as you make it clear that you were only interested in recovering your item: leave as soon as you've retrieved the item (or if you're at work, disengage because the conversation's over), but not after a swift but enthusiastic "thanks!"

not from the US latino? from which country? the machismo personality is very complicated to become accustomed to if you're not used to it

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
